Runway 1/19 is CLOSED by the way. The airport terminal building has been converted to a full museum to US Naval Aviation (they are naval aviators you know). Great displays inside and the outside includes the P-3 Orion and EA-6B. I got to work a high school summer job at NAS Cubi Point and the Cubi ramp was full of these flying machines so some nostalgia from 1980. There is a tower here at Hickory and the controller is pretty lonely so I got a lot of information during the taxi around. The Terminal and the self-serve are on one side and the FBO is now on the other side of the runway. Also, the crosswind runway has recently been closed forever which is sad as someone that was landing as I taxied out smoked his mains while landing in the heavy-duty crosswind. Even the controller commented on the smoke coming from the landing gear. Might need to re-think that runway closure.
