Flew in on 4/25/23 first time in many years. Greeted by Rex the shuttle driver and tour guide extraordinaire. Heard a voice on CTAF and assumed it was airport manager Norm but it turned out to be Rex on his handheld waiting to pick us up and Norm is off on Tues and Wed. Norm was back on Wednesday anyway on his 3-wheel electric bike, took our $10 to park, and got some oil for us. Overall great experience, with very nice people and it goes without saying Mendocino is spectacular, could not have had nicer weather, and severe clear.

This is a little after the fact, but I have had only good experiences with KLLR. Sometimes I found someone greeting us at the "terminal" building, sometimes not. Fuel is convenient and priced OK. There is also Air Galore to get a rental car. Generally VFR conditions coming in, even if the coast is socked in, as this is on a plateau. But I have seen it get below minimums very quickly, so plan an alternate like Ukiah (bigger runway, usually clear, kind of rough part of town) or D83 (Boonville), which is a tourist town of its own.

We flew into Little River on 1/21/23 and were met at the tie-down by the airport manager who rode out to meet us on his bike and asked if we needed any help or information. We rented a Lexus SUV that is kept at the field that we had reserved through Air Galore for 4 hrs that was very reasonable. Keys in a lock box. Just had to top off the tank on the way back from Mendocino. Great experience.

A bit dicey. No one was there when we arrived on a Monday early afternoon. Parking not completely obvious. Attempting to leave on a Weds. Around 1pm, a Notam indicated that the runway would be closed from 0800 - 1700. Notams are given in Zulu time, so this would be 1am - 10am local. Airport personnel barred us from departing, claiming that the Notam was in local time, and it was for CalFire to store materials at the airport (no aviation involved). CalFire was nowhere to be seen. We appreciate the support for CalFire, but could not understand how our 5 min of departure was going to be a problem. Finally reached FAA by phone and had them explain to the local officials that the Notam they had filed was indeed in Zulu time. So we were able to leave.
