My second stop here. Inexpensive self serve fuel, access to clean bathrooms, and a good crew car. I contacted the manager the day before about how to access the crew car after hours and he was very helpful. The local Motel 6 has been newly redecorated and is clean and inexpensive. I'll be back again.

Last night, on approach to Longview, their weather went from bland to horrible. We diverted to Rusk County, which was good VFR. Fuel was incredibly cheap! Wonderful terminal with plenty of services offered. All we needed with a comfy place to wait out the weather for a few hours.

On Monday morning 4/24/17, I received a FSS standard briefing for an early morning departure for a 3 hr flight to RFI. As I was descending for landing a RFI, Longview Controller advised, "There is no fuel available at Rusk Co. Airport until Friday"!!There was no mention of a fuel problem at RFI during the preflight brief. Maybe the fuel pump malfunctioned after our departure or maybe mgt at RFI was negligent in creating a NOTAM for no fuel available? I have stopped at RFI for fuel previously. Great price, if it is available. Fortunately I had sufficient fuel on board to go to Cleburne, CPT, about 120 mi West, but fuel price was 31 cents/gal more. There are some good fuel prices in TX.

Response from Ron Franks, Manager, Rusk County Airport
I am sorry to hear that you were inconvenienced when we did not have fuel available on April 24. We had fuel delivery problems - which are rare for our airport. A NOTAM was issued for 100LL unavailable (04/561) the moment we ran out of fuel. There is the possibility that it was issued while you were airborne, I have no way of knowing. But rest assured that the NOTAM was issued in a timely manner. I also posted a NOTAM on our AWOS to make certain that those who didn't check NOTAMs before departure would not land in anticipation of fuel. I apologize for not having fuel available. Not only is it rare - it was certainly not for a lack of effort in securing that fuel! I hope you will give our airport another chance. We promise to keep our fuel prices as low as possible for the pilots who stop in here. All the best

Super awesome FBO. Excellent and clean courtesy car. Super friendly and helpful staff. Gas prices are outstanding! Runways are in great shape. FBO building is clean and cozy. Honestly one of my favorite stops.

Needed transportation for family function. Ron volunteered their courtesy car and upon our arrival he had it ready to drive. Filled up our aircraft with fuel and was shocked at how cheap it was. All around fantastic experience, great management, and beautiful facility. Highly recommend. Look forward to going back. Thanks, Ron!!!

You just won't find a nicer place to stop than Rusk County. Clean, comfortable FBO, very nice runway and taxiways, and the nicest folks you could ask for. Be sure to look up Ron Franks the Mgr there and get to know him. Prince of a guy. Great fuel prices too.

Boy, if there's ever a place that deserves your business, this is it. Stopped there for cheap gas on the way out, and stopped again on the way back. Courtesy car to get me to a nice motel on the far side of town (food there was okay), and they had space in the hangar for free for overnight. Very friendly and helpful.

Stopped for fuel 4/8/16. Price was lower than posted on AirNav. AirNav guaranteed price, $2.98. Price I paid this date was $2.75. SS station worked OK. Terminal building was clean. Great stop going cross-country.
