Quick stop, parked right up front.... Very nice even though I did not need fuel this time.
From Gary Daniel on 15-Mar-2020

Very friendly service and nice facility. Can certainly understand the need to park light aircraft away from large jets, as there were at least five on the ramp. We were met by a lineman who tied down airplane and then took us to rental car in golf cart. No complaints about fees. It is a business that needs to make a profit.
From William Robertson on 09-Mar-2020

Excellent new facility and convenient attached hotel now. If you arrive or are here after 8pm, and don't pay for after hours or call out, it's locked up tighter than dicks hat band. There are no after hours restrooms that I could find. An instructor and student flew in looking to use a restroom while I was waiting for my passengers after hours. I told them there weren't any that I knew of. I've found a bush or building corner several times here over the years. The people are friendly, I've been coming here 10-15 years, and Iíve used the DPE here for my students, an excellent guy. But to charge a facility fee, then close access to the facilities at 8pm is pretty raw. I'm sure you could walk around and use the restroom at the Hilton but they normally frown on that in other cities I've been to if you aren't a customer.

Response from Larry Wade, Partner/GM, Golden Isles Aviation
Thank you Mr. Robertson for visiting Golden Isles Aviation and St. Simons Island! I am sorry for your after hours restroom quandary, but after hours when the FBO terminal is closed you are indeed welcome to use the lobby restroom facilities of the Home2Suites built with us. Our FBO/Hotel combo is to serve you better! Our FBO guests are welcome to utilize the pool and fitness center during the day as well (we have a shower in the FBO). And, just to clarify, there are no facility fees for piston aircraft (except cabin and above, eg. C421). Again, thank you for being a returning guest.

I flew my Piper Archer from KVRB to KPWM in January 2020, and stopped at KSSI and Golden Isles Aviation on the way home. What a great experience ... I was immediately met by a nice friendly ground are with a gold cart... They fueled my plan and found me hangar space for the night (the new paint job needed curing and it was recommended I hangar the plan while traveling home. They were so careful with the plane... So quick and great fuel prices too! Hotel right on the field was perfect also!!! I will definitely be back to Golden Isles. I was a small "itty bitty" plane but was treated like a jet owner LOL Thank you!

  Very friendly staff.
From Rick Binkley on 09-Oct-2019

My last experience at Golden Isles Aviation echoes the experience from Mr. Kindling. A few months back I flew in with family in a piston aircraft. Five adults and we were directed down the ramp a long way from the terminal. The distance can sometimes be football fields away. Eventually a golf cart shows up to give us a ride in the 98 degree heat. Every turbine aircraft arriving is directed next to the front door of the terminal. Some of these aircraft sit for hours and never purchase a drop of fuel. If you are not driving a jet it seems you are not exclusive enough to be parked in front of the terminal. When I asked the staff about the situation I heard the same story about damaging an aircraft. So a mistake by the FBO staff means every piston aircraft is directed away from the terminal. I have been to many FBOs where my piston aircraft was parked temporarily in front of the terminal for passengers to unload/load. Definitely not fair treatment for all.

We came through earlier this week, in a small single-engine piston, for a quick stop to grab fuel and stretch our legs. We were met as we pulled off the runway and guided directly to a spot. The line crew took our fuel request and offered us a ride to the FBO door. It was just after 5:00 and the front desk suggested we take the crew car just down the road to get some dinner at a good BBQ joint. Very nice facility with friendly and attentive staff.

Very pleased with the entire experience: Line Crew, CSRs, Facilities, and customer service. Everyone acts like a Pro!

The perfect getaway - we debated on where to fly in and we are so happy we chose this airport. Service was spectacular and attention to detail was superb. Highly recommend!

Stopped unannounced in a Cessna single due to weather. The entire staff was excellent. Everyone was kind and helpful. Hotel rooms booked for us right there and off we went with some knowledge of what to do with our impromptu vacation.
From Paul Kindling on 18-Mar-2018

Gus is correct, if you fly a piston or a single engine aircraft, you will get second rate service. I was flying an executive in this year in a piston twin. Today we were parked football fields down the ramp. I have flown into SSI in several small and midsize jets over the years and received good service. Not always timely, but good nonetheless. I also had pretty good service, and a slow quick turn, when I stopped in for fuel from Jekyll last year in the same piston twin, when it was my son and I Unfortunately my executive's transportation was delayed also, not the GIA's issue, but I think it worked out better because the long, slow taxi gave the driver time to show up. Perhaps its different management, but either way, if you are not buying kerosene expect poor/2nd class service. They seem to do quite a bit of business, I would sure prefer to have another option on the field.

Response from Larry Wade, President, Golden Isles Aviation
Mr. Kindling, I'm very sorry you didn't feel as though you got the service you desired. My apologies to you. I'm half owner and FBO Gen Mgr for 31 years and hate hearing ANY negative comments, but truly appreciate knowing areas where we need to improve. We are indeed in our very busiest season, March/April, with turbines during this time, usually being more "sleepy". We do lead pistons down the ramp at this time so they are not intermingled with the turbines. We used to mingle them together but damage occurred to a smaller aircraft due to blast, so we learned our lesson of ramp management/aircraft safety. We strive to meet EVERY aircraft to park/greet/serve. At times we can get busy while serving during a peak. We don't charge single and light twin pistons facility/day ramp fees, only very reasonable overnight fees, which also can be waived with a small purchase. Please forgive our shortcomings to you. It will make us strive even harder. Thanks for your comments and visit.

Flew in mid December of 2017 and had to leave the Bonanza for a couple of weeks due to weather. Met some wonderful people who work at Golden Isles who went out of their way to be helpful. A first class operation with genuine people who will become your friends! Thank you.
