    William M. Tuck Airport is located two miles east of the town of South Boston in Halifax County.

    The airport is owned by Halifax County and accommodates approximately 11,900 operations annually, servicing Halifax County and the surrounding area for corporate, private and other nonscheduled air traffic. It is estimated that 75 percent of these operations are itinerant.

    The airport's two runways are sited on 100 acres of land. The main runway (1-19) is 4,011 feet long, 75 feet in width, and has been completely rehabilitated. The crosswind turfy runway (6-24) is 2700 feet long.

    New runway lights are radio controlled with low, medium, and high intensity settings. Also, new REIL and VASI lights have been installed as of 8/10/2002. A computerized weather station is available for briefings.

     Nearby attractions and lodgings include the magnificent landmark of Berry Hill, a NASCAR sanctioned track ( South Boston Speedway ) in South Boston, VIR - the Virginia International Raceway, as well as plenty of hunting and fishing oppportunities.
