Another excellent trip to the Southern Flyer. The clean ramp with clean ropes for tiedowns and chocks available should be a model for every FBO. Cheap investment that make parking easy and inviting. Great food as always (but need a new french fry recipe). Had to self serve the gas since the lineman was gone to buy a part for the fuel truck. But again, clean working facilities at the pump made this only a slightly sweaty chore in 100 F.

Went to Brenham recently to have dinner at the Inn at Dos Brisas 20 minutes away. Janet at Southern Flyers responded to my inquiry from AirNav quickly and helped me set up a car. This is a great airport with very nice folks at the FBO. There is a great restaurant on the field for fly in diners. I highly recommend a stop at 11R and a visit with the nice folks at Southern Flyers. Thanks again Janet.

Food and service were excellent at this airport! Courtesy truck was lent to us at no charge to go to Blue Bell for tour. Courtesy truck was in very good shape unlike other airports. This airport is a must visit for all pilots!

So so place, great restaurant. Only down side to the restaurant is the timings and the wait for a table. Opens at 11am, and if you're early or its not a busy day, you'll be fine. On weekends the wait is up to 45 minutes. Asked for fuel only one time at this FBO, the lineman's attitude sent us away. Flew in again, radios on my students side was not working. I took over the radios as soon as UNICOM told us of that. After landing was approached by elderly gentleman with a serious attitude problem. Enjoyed the food, but these experiences ensured we never went back.

Great FBO and restaurant. We were tied up for the better part of a week visiting family and couldn't recommend 11R more. Jack Hess and his crew were very accommodating, allowing us access to the tarmac to load/unload/load (many times) our plane directly to our car...And the self-service gas was cheap and easy. While waiting out a weather delay, Jack offered advise without being judgmental...Very refreshing. Highly recommended!

Went back to Brenham the other day and experienced absolutely wonderful service. Jack and I had a good laugh as I had showed up without any Grecian Formula in hand... Won't forget to bring it on my next trip. Heartily recommend Jack and the Crew at 11R.

Jack's quick response and explanation was much appreciated, so I phoned Jack Hess this morning to make sure express my appreciation for his response. Wanted to make sure that we were both on the same page and to assure each other that what we both experienced was just an instance of poor/miscommunication on each side. Jack explained that he had been dealing with an urgent problem at the time and was a bit "distracted" by the situation. We both had a laugh, and reminisced about the good old days of aviation. Jack says that the majority of his business are small piston aircraft and that they are his staple customers and are Highly Regarded at his FBO...As opposed to some other FBO's that are downright nasty if you pull up in anything less than a King Air. I appreciate Jack's great attitude and look forward to seeing him again on my next visit to Brenham. I'll even try to remember to bring along some Grecian Formula for the older gent.

I went to the FBO to ask about full service fuel this morning at 0745. Although the posted hours are from 0700 on, nobody was around. Finally an older gentleman emerged from the FBO and got in his golden Chevy pickup and drove over to me. I asked for full service fuel and he said: "WE HAVEN'T PULLED THE TRUCK OUT YET, BUT (Pointing) THERE’S THE SELF SERVE PUMP. IF YOU NEED IT, GET IT...IF YOU DON'T, THEN DON'T!" ~~I couldn't believe my ears! How unbelievably RUDE! So I departed immediately and refueled at another airport. It takes a long time to gain customers and just a few seconds to lose one. Response from Jack Hess, Southern Flyer The older gentleman (ouch) arrived at the airport at 7:01 and began checking the runway for foreign debris (The day's take 1 machine screw). The terminal building was entered at 7:06 through the line door. I was distracted by a problem on the east side of the terminal and I failed to unlock the front door. In my 3-year-old gray pick-up that has been used by hundreds as a courtesy vehicle I saw the pilot of an overnight aircraft. I drove over to him to let him know that he didn't have to worry about an overnight fee. He asked about the fuel and I answered as he stated. I assumed he was buying fuel to avoid an overnight charge. I was I thought upbeat, but the words got all screwed up and I never even got the good news out - it just came out that he did not need to buy any if he did not need it. My communication was bad his was nonexistent. Mr. Black was just too mad to talk. I just hate to screw up someone's flight and I certainly did. I am sorry and I will remember this.

On February 22nd, the Southern Flyer was awarded a plaque for being the Best of the Best, by the 100 Dollar Hamburger, for the 4th straight year in a row. That says it all. Congratulations.

The southern flyer always provides good service to my students, and me its one of the first FBO's that I show the students.
