Clear approaches. Visual sensation of narrow runway but is ok once you are close in. Least expensive fuel in the area. Local pilots were very helpful in getting set up for fuel. Pilots lounge was ok - nice spot in the shade for lunch -will be back again on the return trip home.

Gas stop on the way out west. Narrow strip. The day was gusty and a little rough but otherwise a long taxi to the northeast end of the field. Facility very "dated" but the gas was fresh.

Marked price was $3.68, as shown on AirNav--but the actual price in the computer was $3.60, so it was even cheaper. Best fuel prices in this area by far!!

In these days of "pain at the pump", Fred at Platte Valley really is doing his best to keep the fuel price within reason. Hats off to you, Fred! Platte Valley was BUSY when we visited this morning; seemingly much busier than a nearby airport that has a control tower, and tries to tell us all how good their fuel prices are.

Stopped in today for fuel. Fred is doing the best he can to contain fuel costs, and we filled up. Always a pleasure to visit here!

I stopped by this morning for fuel. After purchasing 58 gallons, as we were leaving, Fred drove up and told me that he was just now changing the fuel price from $2.99 to $2.85, and offered to refund me the difference. WOW! I'll keep coming back!

Platte Valley is what GA is all about. Friendly people, a fantastic museum with WWI and WWII airplanes that actually fly, the cheapest fuel around... Always a pleasure to visit!

We stop here regularly, since they typically have the lowest fuel prices in the area. To respond to the comments left by another airman in July: Yes it's true that the west-facing dial on the pump is inaccurate. Yes, the grounding wire WAS broken. Yes the runway IS narrow. Yes the receipt printer occasionally DOES run out of paper. My question is, did you tell somebody there about these problems, or just complain on AirNav? I call the fuel guy if I find a problem there. He repairs it promptly, except for the pump dial (it's been wacko for a long time!) However, the fuel is less expensive, landing on that yardstick of a runway is good practice, and the Platte Valley people are the nicest you'll find. If you think that your Mooney had problems turning, imagine what it's like for the guys who run the old Beechcraft twin that is tied down near the pump. You could remember that this is a tiny airport, and adjust your thinking accordingly

Platte Valley usually provides the cheapest fuel in the Denver area. The fuel pump is old-fashioned, and the mechanical readout on the pump is often inop, but the electronic recorder is perfectly accurate and gives receipts with the amount listed. Be sure to stop in the "tower" and take a tour upstairs.

This is a great place to stop and get fuel. The ground wire is fixed. Runway is fine, fly in and out in my Comanche regularly. Best prices around and great people too.

The 100LL pump is in need of serious repair. Gallon counter on side facing airplane (west) is totally inaccurate, started at 30 gallons after reset. Back side (facing east) is the accurate side, but you can't see it while fueling. Ground wire clip broken and unusable except to lay it in the exhaust pipe and hope for the best. NO credit card receipt printed. Runway is very narrow and had to roll to the south end of the runway to find enough room to turn my Mooney Ovation around, since it doesn't have the best turning radius. Otherwise, easy in and out with a good fuel price.

Great place. This is what all airports should be like. Great and helpful people, who all love flying. Best fuel prices within hundreds of miles too.

Marilyn, Mark, Kevin and Kent are the greatest aviation people around. They are the most helpful and friendly people anywhere. 18V is worth the stop, there is a great aviation hardware store on the field, a wonderful WW1 flying museum operated by Andy Parks, Kent Ferguson is a great flight instructor. 18V is worth the stop anytime you are in the vicinity. Lots of vintage aircraft based on the field. Stop for fuel and take a look around. Everyone is friendly and helpful.

Don't know if this helps but when faced with the same problem, using a different credit card did the trick for me.

I was anticipating a quick easy fuel stop, but the card reader wouldn't read my credit card. A frustrating situation in that the fuel depot is not attended. It certainly met all expectations for the airport, but I had to go to Greeley for fuel. One of the locals said this is not unusual. Maybe this will motivate the fuel vendor to get the equipment updated or at least tuned up.

Quick, easy fuel stop. Consistently the cheapest fuel on the Front Range. Very sweet owners who are trying hard to retain the historical feel of the place. They are currently selling lots for fly-in home building.
