I wish I had read comments below before I went July 30th 2009... Landing fee is now $100! This is only waived after purchase of 2 bus tickets to the Skywalk (total now $86.09 with fees and taxes excluding entrance to the Skywalk!!). You are not allowed to walk around or leave the airport on foot. Both prices of landing fee and bus ticket are outrageous compared to services provided. Skywalk isn't that great after you've flown over the canyon and for better views from the edge go to Grand Canyon Village near Williams, AZ

3/10/09 flew to Grand Cyn West from Whiteman Apt. Near Van Nuys Ca. Landed runway 17, took off on 35. $20 landing fee! Purchased "Senior Legacy Pkg". For two at $79.69. Includes bus rides to Eagle Point, Guano Point and Hualapai Ranch. Went to Sky Walk area, paid $57.50 two senior tickets. Had photos taken on the Walk ($79 for digital Pkg. 1GB flash drive 28 photos) cameras & cell phones must be checked. You walk thru a metal detector. Sky Walk was great! Guano point, nice photo spot. Buffet lunch (2 Sr. For $21.90) was OK, soft drinks $2 extra/bottled water free. Hualapai Ranch, western town with Saloon/restaurant, should have eaten here. Soft drinks/coffee and cookies free. Spent 1 hr taking pictures of Boot Hill, Old Jail, and Barber Shop. Etc. Fun things here. No entrance fee/extra charges! Spent 3 hours total had great time. Employee’s very helpful, good attitudes. Highly recommend this location. Total cost was $258.29. You only go around once in life so grin and bear it.

We flew in 22 Feb 09- great experience. See our comments at North Las Vegas/Monarch Air here on the AirNav site. $10 pp landing fee waived with our 3 tour packages (about $60 mil rate for bus ride and skywalk). No cell or aviation services available. If you go expecting Signature service you will be disappointed; if you are use to non-controlled airfields and recognize that the primary purpose of the airfield is to bring in commercial tour operators you will not be disappointed.

August 2, 2007 Airport is a bit tricky with traffic in both directions and occasional rain, but ground personnel very courteous. Fee is just an acceptable cost of landing in such a beautiful area. I will be back and recommend it highly!

After reading all the bad press from other pilots we decided it wasn't worth the time and or money. It would have been a great stop if I felt good about it.. Maybe someday they will see the value in GA!

Great day trip from LGB. Kind of expensive. $10.00 per person landing fee (not waived with tour purchase) $30.00 person bus ticket and $30.00 per person to go out on the sky walk. Quite an unusual experience had lots of fun. The staff was helpful "enough" to earn 3 stars.

Very hostile to GA. I didn't have reservations, but I was flying through the area and had never seen the canyon, so I thought I would shut down, walk up the canyon, snap a photo, and leave. I walked around for a few minutes, and wasn't allowed even close to the fence, so I decided it wasn't worth the effort and it was time to leave. As I walked out to the airplane, I was stopped by a guard who told me I would have to pay an outrageous landing fee. No way, no pay. I hate to sound bitter, but this is not what I expected from any airport. No service at all, but they want you to pay. It's a beautiful airport, but if you go there don't stop!

We went and had no issues. I called Unicom 7 miles out, the winds were calm and the tour operators were landing 17. When in Rome! After landing I asked Unicom where I could park for the day and was quickly directed to parking. Parking was $20, not $100, but it was waved with the tour ticket purchase. Why else would someone land there? I did expect to pay a lot for the bus ride, Skywalk and other fees, $69 a person, but we had a great time. The employees we dealt with were polite and happy to help. Personal items such as cell phones, purses, cameras are not allowed on the skywalk but they do provide lockers. We spent 5 hours there, saw everything and had a great time!

Flew in there this weekend. I was caught off guard that I might have to pay $100 to land at the airport. However, when I checked at the counter, they sort of shrugged and said don't worry about it. (So I didn't). Make sure you call ahead to find out what their attitude will be when you show up. We did purchase a shuttle ticket and went the skywalk and Guano point (Guano point has the better vistas). Definitely worth visiting if you can get the fees worked out. This is why we fly right? (FYI.. Would have taken about 3 hours by bus/car.. Only 35-40 mins in a C-172.

This airport is hostile to visits by private aircraft. The owners cater to tour operators. No services. No guidance. No published information. Nobody answers any of listed phones to provide prearrival briefings. Then the operations people wait until you've parked and shutdown before wandering out tell you that you are parked in the wrong area, and move your plane immediately. And buy your tickets right away or you will be hit by a very large 'handling' fee. Not worth the pain.

Flew in after reading an article on the place but didn't investigate thoroughly. Although the cost for the catwalk is a $25 add-on to some packages, you can't buy that alone. The minimum it will cost you is $75 per person to walk the catwalk. This includes a decent lunch buffet and other things we really didn't have time or want to do. Read their website package descriptions carefully.

Did not go to West Grand Canyon/1G4 to experience Skywalk, as their reception on phone was non-existent with lousy attitude and service. I also determined their prices are exorbitant on top of outrageous landing & handling fees and transportation charges. Elected instead to fly the route around Grand Canyon, which was fabulous.

From Chuck Ivester on 30-Jun-2007
Friendly staff at the airport. They will waive the $100 landing fee if you buy a tour package of the skywalk or other attractions. Very heavy air-taxi usage. No aviation services provided. Efficient shuttle service and decent food. The skywalk is one of a kind. Breathtaking approach on the canyon rim, but the canyon winds can beat you up, and the potential for wind sheer is pretty high.

From Brian Crawford on 05-Feb-2007
This airport is the home of the new Grand Canyon Skywalk, due to be opened to the public in March 28, 2007. The shuttles to the Grand Canyon West lookouts are immediately outside the airport area. Private vehicles are not allowed to drive to the canyon rim. Visitors park near the airport and purchase a $50 shuttle package that includes bus transportation to the rim and lunch. The 4800' runway is currently being expanded to 5280' to accommodate jets. According to the new onsite airport manager, $100 landing fee for all aircraft is due to be implemented by the end of February 2007, however, it is waived upon the purchase of at least two shuttle packages.
