Beautiful country airport. Arrived on a sunny Saturday, only plane in the air or on ramp was me. Enterprise was waiting in the parking lot. Gentleman in office left door open for my early evening return, Medivac pilot held car keys for Monday pick-up. Visit historic Jim Thorpe PA, nearby. About as good as it gets.

A nice airport. The self-serve is usually very reliable. They have a computer but it does not work. Being able to get weather updates is vital to flight. The airport lounge and bathrooms need some love. It's unfortunate that the airport authority does not take more interest in the place.

Response from Paul Smith, Carbon County Airport Authority
It isn't the Airport Authority. They barely have enough money to keep the place open. The manager and others, work for free just to keep the place going. There are 2 problems: The first is that even though there are over 40 based aircraft, the majority of them don't fly, and the other problem is that the County has no interest and does not support the airport, which is sad. The Authority should be commended for doing what they do with no help or support from tennants, users, and politicians. Show me another airport with brand new t-hangars for $200 a month, $40 outside tie downs, reasonable fuel costs, no parking/landing fees, GPS approaches, AWOS III, new runway, etc, etc, etc.
