I must admit that I have a prejudiced view, because I have kept my airplane at this airport for 23 years. It's not many airports where the guy that runs the airport and the chief mechanic have the FAA 50 years continuous aviation career awards, and are still there. These guys have so much knowledge that it's a shame to walk away and not learn more from them. I have trusted my airplanes and my family to them, and I get all my minor and major A and P done on the field, including my P Baron for the last 17 years. My plane is always perfect when they get done with it, and they are so amicable to deal with. These guys are so ingrained in the local aviation that an intersection is named for one of them. Granted, they have survived 50 plus years in aviation business, so don't expect to be able to take advantage of them, but I know they'd give you the shirt off their back if they thought you deserved it. The free hangar that someone got might have been mine, because they know they can use it.

Great stop. Took a friend to be with his dad for surgery and stayed at the AP while he was away. Ethan (sp) was there immediately to fill my Mooney and the whole gang couldn't have been more friendly. Margaret greeted me upon my arrival to the FBO and Bill Johnmeyer shared with me some great WWII stories of flying as we passed the time away. They were also very receptive of me sending them Angel Flight information for them to display. I highly recommend 3DW for a stop over. Great stop, Great People!

Stopped in at Springfield Flying Service. They were very friendly and helpful. Doing more than asked to help.

This is a nice, well kept airport. The self-serve fuel worked fine, and was priced average or higher. Not the friendliest place on earth, though. Not one person said "hi" or even acknowledged our presence. I won't avoid this airport, but I sure won't go out of my way to land here again.

Very Nice and Friendly folks, when we arrived close to quitting time in 100+ degree heat, the owner let his employees go home and stayed with us so my family could wait in the air-conditioning until our ride arrived. They are very friendly and have a customer first attitude. Highly recommended!

Called ahead to secure a tie down for the Memorial Day weekend. All tie downs were taken upon arrival, though, and the general manager (Bill) insisted that they hangar us at no charge. He pre-arranged that we would call him at his home for departure when the FBO was closed on the holiday. He arrived quickly, and assisted us in returning our rental car to its off-field location, and towed our preloaded aircraft out into the rain. He refused all attempts to compensate him for his above-and-beyond efforts. Springfield Flying Service is a super example of what makes General Aviation great!
