We flew in to get a tail wheel at Wicks aircraft supply, only 5 miles away. When we landed Mr. Shafer and Phil the resident mechanic greeted us. They gave us their van instead of waiting for a ride. After we got back we enjoyed a chat with a couple of down to earth people who make aviation a pleasure.

Called from TN with broken vacuum pump. Phil said he could probably find a replacement. When I got to St. Louis, he verified the part, gave directions to where to get it, did the work in an hour and what could have been a stressful ride home turned into a very pleasant experience. Gave a few rides to some relatives, topped off at the self-serve and bid farewell to this friendly well-equipped little airport. Many Thanks!
