This is a regular stop for us and every visit is excellent! Fun place to land, and very nice restaurant with 4-star food. This recent visit, we encountered several mud spots on the runway centerline. Hard enough for the zero-turn mowers, but not quite enough for 6x6 tires. Soft-field techniques recommended IMHO.

Great resort, well maintained grass strip, very nice restaurant. They have boats and gear to rent for fishing. Definitely want to take off on 6 as you have more valley distance for climb out. We stayed in a cabin and had a wonderful time.

Gaston's resort is a wonderful fly in location, very peaceful and beautiful with great amenities. The grass strip is very well maintained and has a few bumps near the end of 24. Large tie down area at the far end of 24 near the office. Take off on Runway 6 is preferred because there are trees at the end of 24 followed by a steep valley to climb with large power lines and the dam. The fuel is expensive due to convenience and the staff is wonderful!
