Landed in Gaston's based on a recommendation. It's a nice turf strip, but when coming in from the southeast make sure to remember that when landing on runway 24 the river will be on your LEFT! There's some other long grassy area on the adjacent side of the river that also looks like a runway until you get real close. (Don't ask how I know this!) The turf strip was fine for my Warrior, and the restaurant was great with friendly service. Gas is pretty pricey so I didn't buy any, and there was nobody manning the FBO.

I love Gaston's the place is great; especially for those who like the combo of flying and fishing. I just made my fifth trip. Three of the five trips, I landed on Gaston's grass strip. The other two times I landed at the Mountain Home airport (Baxter Regional). Gaston's will pick you up at Mountain Home airport - at least if you are staying there. I think that it is about 15-20 minutes away. The grass strip at Gaston's is nice and long and wide and is usually in pretty good condition. It drains well except for parts of tie down area (they do have tie down stakes and ropes in place). My departure today was one of my bumpier ones. I walked down it the day before I had noticed many mole tunnels and mound. The fishing is excellent. The restaurant is pretty good. It is expensive, but if you are actually flying in, there should not be much of a complaint. Everything else is very cheap and reasonable. Most of the cabins have good TV’s, fireplaces, charcoal grills, and fridges.

Flew in there today, great place to go eat, fish, and stay the night. Its great to fly in and park your plane just in front of your cabin! My wife loves the departure. Go there and enjoy. DRU

We flew the DC-3 into Gaston’s, fantastic grass strip that is well maintained. Jim Gaston met us and offered anything we needed for help. Cabin was ready and waiting and great dinner as usual over the river that night. You have to see this place for yourself - outstanding service in all aspects. Food, pool, fuel, van, cabins, and fishing!
