This could be the best run small airport in the country. Chris Swain (Director of Airport Ops) was very helpful getting me in a hangar to avoid a classic TN thunderstorm. Very clean and comfortable facility. I had always used CHA before but will use 3M3 from now on.

Great airport. Mr. Leon Bagby was 'on duty' staff during my visit. Very friendly...Offered a courtesy car and plenty of conversation. I'll make this a regular stop on my trips into Tennessee.

Flew into Collegedale today and was greeted on the Unicom by the time we turned off of the runway to check on any needs that we may have had. The gentleman on duty was quick to make us feel welcome, was courteous and answered any questions we had about the airport with a smile. We found out the restaurant is now open during the week Monday thru Friday serving lunch (11am to 2pm). The runway looked a little "tricky" at first but was very easy once down to field elevation. I will be making several trips back to 3M3 over the next couple of weeks and hope to give the restaurant a try very soon...The guy in the "Red Coupe" gives a big "Thanks" to the folks at Collegedale. The entire operation is clean and very well run!!

Flew in Memorial Day weekend for a friend's wedding. Outstanding people serve this little airport. They try to do everything they can to accommodate visiting aircraft. With threatening weather chasing us all the way to Tennessee, I was able to store my plane in a gentleman's empty hangar for the two nights we were there--what great hospitality!! The runway is a little sloped (especially for a flatlander like me from Oklahoma) but nothing to difficult to negotiate. The airport sits in a small valley and you nearly have to be on top of it to see it. The price of fuel is now $5.38 including taxes--a little pricey but made up by the tremendous people at Collegedale. If my travels ever bring me back to this area, this will be my first choice to stop and stay longer.

I have just discovered this excellent airport staffed with great folks! After landing at Collegedale Airport I discovered I had a problem with an idler pulley bearing. Mr. Frank Zarski, the Airport Manager, made some calls and told us none of the maintenance personnel were on the field at the moment but would have the first one to return phone me. Within a few minutes Roger from Top Flight Aviation called saying he had verified the problem and found the part. He quoted me prices and said that the owner would come in on Sunday to do the work. The owner, Mr. Stuart Pruitt (spelling?) called just after noon on Sunday saying the part was installed, the engine had been tested, and I was ready to depart, as scheduled, on Monday morning. As soon as they get an instrument approach there won't be much need to land at the "big airport." I highly recommend stopping in any time you have a chance whether just for fuel or for a visit. Enterprise is close by and very accommodating as well.
