My son & I recently flew Milwaukee to Mt Hawley for an early morning business conference. Steve was a pleasure to work with. Our experience was a very good one. A crew car happened to be available for us to use for the trip to and from the meeting. I recommend this airport for pilots who have business on the north side of Peoria.

Flew in for one night. Found Steve, airport mgr, to be very accommodating. The was an event "lifeline pilots" fundraiser that had the ramps full of vendors/demos. Steve gave us his cell prior to arrival. When we arrived he directed us into an overnight hangar due to no space available on the ramp. We called ahead about courtesy car and Steve said it is a max 4 hours and we needed a car overnight. Enterprise delivered car to airport. Great experience.

The airport is nice, the self-serve fuel is convenient, and the people were friendly. However, their policies are not friendly or convenient for pilots. I flew in on a Friday afternoon with my wife to visit the zoo and have dinner. There's no lockbox with CTAF for a code to get the crew car. Instead, I had to call someone who came and had me fill out paperwork. (For a 15-yr-old Ford Escape, this is excessive.) I had to have the car back before the FBO closed at 5:30. I ended up using the car for about an hour, then had to return it to the airport and then got an Uber for dinner. To get back in the building after dinner and before I departed, I had to call the big airport to get a code (as they don't use the CTAF on the keypad), give my name, and explain the reason for wanting to access the FBO. Seriously?

Self serve gas worked fine, and there was a nice pilot's lounge, but I was hoping to spend the night, and except for a couple of really ratty ropes in a box by the pumps there were no tie down ropes! The airport was listed as being attended until dusk but nobody was there (Sunday evening). I called the after hours phone number on a note by the door, and a guy answered who was at the big airport and said that he could be of no help whatsoever. I took off and went someplace else.
