We visited on 1/3/12, Dick was much nicer to us than required, very nice clean facility. This airport is a credit to the community.

I enjoy flying to Clare and using the excellent airport vehicle to go into town to the Daugherty Hotel for their outstanding apple pie! Back at the airport lounge I make a chocolate sundae from the contents of the freezer. Where else can you find such a great airport and then all the nice pilot friendly amenities to boot!

We stopped at Clare (48D) on the way to Oshkosh for fuel, and were so delighted to find this gem of an airport. The assistant airport manager could not have been nicer and more friendly and helpful. The local pilot association has a courtesy van available for visitors, and there is popcorn, coffee, and ice cream on site. The FBO is a neat and clean and modern facility. The village has multiple choices for all types of dining. Many thanks to the Clare Muni folks for a nice stop over.

Terrific rural airport with nice people, decent fuel price, and food and water to buy on honor system. We took the courtesy car into town and got a terrific burger at the White House restaurant, which we highly recommend.

What a treat! Lowest fuel prices in MI plus Dick, the friendly FBO man, offers free ice cream! He made chocolate shakes for the pilot and co-pilot and fed our doggy, Beacon. It's a must stop! Prices may go up after the January load is used up so stop in soon. We stopped 6/3/11.

Wonderful FBO. Small town atmosphere with everything you need. No one was even there when we arrived, but the building was open, and they had two computers to use, printers, and food and water to buy on honor system. Love these kind of places.....

Clare Municipal Airport must be one of Michigan's best kept secrets. Can't say enough positive about the facility. Clean well kept FBO and grounds, reasonable fuel prices, lots of creature comforts and more.

I always stop at Clare Municipal 48D for the best fuel price, even go out of my way. It's not just the fuel price. The facilities are excellent. Bottled water free and gloves to use right at the pump. Also if unattended oil on the honor system. Free ice cream and popcorn offered by the very friendly and helpful manager Dick Acker.

After "landing out" in my sailplane at Clare on May 28, 2010, I received unsurpassed assistance and hospitality from Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Lavalley, Asst Mgrs. Clare Municipal "rocks"!

Very nice airport. We stopped for cheap gas, and the courtesy car. What we didn't expect was the free chocolate malt! I highly recommend this as a very pleasant fuel stop.

Stayed in the area three nights. Could not take advantage of the low fuel cost because I topped my tanks less than 100 miles earlier. Still received a warm welcome and first class treatment. I can also recommend the Doherty Hotel in town as a real value with similar welcoming service and hospitality.

From Mark Blau on 06-Jul-2009

Went there yesterday and true to the comments on this in the past. They forced us to eat some fresh made chocolate malts free of charge on a hot day.... What is this world coming to? Great stop and great people too. Need more of this in General Aviation!!

From Elliot Zeltzer on 30-Apr-2009

Stopped in for low cost fuel. Tidy airport terminal, mostly unattended. Weather information tools need some work. Courtesy car available and SS fuel is what was advertised. Fuel hose is a bit short so if you have a big twin you might have to re-position to do both sides.
