Latest is that the airport is expected to open again about mid November, '09.

Camp Guernsey and the Guernsey Civilian side are scheduled to have construction begin on the runway beginning April 1, 2009. The construction is estimated to last approximately 150 days, which will shut down our runway for that time. We apologize for any inconvenience during this time. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at (307) 836-2335. Sincerely, Leslie Zynda Town of Guernsey

Good stop for fuel. If you do an overnight don't bank on a late dinner, this town of 1100 people goes to bed early. The River View Restaurant has a good breakfast. Crew car Available. Advisory services still being provided by the tower.

Stopped for fuel June 25, 2008. Pump worked well and facilities were clean and available. There is not yet a "tower", but the military does provide what they refer to as a full time advisory service. Upon questioning, I was informed it will soon be a full-fledged tower and that they will be getting class D airspace designation.

I have read the response from the town of Guernsey, and I used to stop at Guernsey quite often, until Gary left. I stopped the other day to check it out, and did not see any improvements or any construction that Leslie talked about. Basically they are not doing a thing except letting it go to pot. Won't be stopping here any longer

Bill Simpkins is correct; the City of Guernsey is now running the civilian ramp, including fuel sales. The price is no longer cheap, but the airport is well maintained with clean facilities. The credit card machine didn't work on the self-service pump, but the city sent a very pleasant worker out to try and fix it. When that failed, he allowed us to pay for the fuel by credit card over the phone. If you stop for a meal, try the Riverside Cafe on the west side of town and a block south of the Hwy 26.
Response from Leslie Zynda, Town of Guernsey We would like to extend our apologies while we are under construction. As the Guernsey Airport may not be run by an FBO at this time, we are still striving to keep the Airport in a comfortable and safe environment for everyone that visits. Please give a chance to finish our "Construction" period and hope that this will not cause any disruptions in your flight. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon! Town of Guernsey

Flew in the other day, and the place was abandoned, grass dying, door to parking lot locked from outside, door to the office wide open and looked like someone kicked it in. This used to be my favorite stop, but don't know anymore. Talked with a person there and found out the town kicked out the operator for the FBO and locked up all his stuff. Gary kept that place clean, and looking good and would do anything for anyone at anytime. For all of that the town threw him out. Not going to be my stop any more.
