Divert for WX on 13 May 2011 Personnel were extremely helpful. Called Parachute Inn who had just closed and arranged for them to reopen and serve a meal. I cannot say enough for Michelle, Bill and Donny. Restaurant and Museum alone are worth the trip. THANKS to all.

My wife and I stopped recently as a fuel stop and to eat at the renovated 737 on the field. We were on our way to Tulsa (KRVS) for the BPPP training. Very nice stop, food was great and priced fair and the aircraft was fueled while we ate. Great old airfield with a lot of history and long wide runways! Walnut Ridge will be my stop on any trips out this way.

Landed at Walnut Ridge for a fuel stop on the way from Terre Haute, IN to Longview, TX after competing at the National Intercollegiate Flying Association 2010 National Competition. We were very impressed with the service, friendly directions to the nearest food, clean and comfortable courtesy car, and of course the array of graveyard aircraft assembled on the field to look at. We will make Walnut Ridge our fuel stop any time it is along our route of flight!

Flew in for the open house 4/9/10. Friendly line crew and a nice, modern, clean FBO. Museum has lots of pictures and memorabilia from the 40's when the airport was an Army Air Corps training base. The fried catfish lunch buffet inside the B-737 fuselage was wonderful. Nice runways, plenty of ramp space, friendly people. This is a great destination for a $100 burger or if you just need a good excuse to fly.

Great airport and FBO. Awesome gas prices. Friendly and helpful staff. You gotta see the old 737 restaurant. It is worth the stop.

Stopped here unplanned to wait for stormy weather ahead to clear, and we were pleased with the FBO friendly service, low fuel price and decent restaurant. This is an unusual field for its history and ability to handle large aircraft and restaurant-in-a-fuselage (you gotta see to believe).

Flew into Parachute Inn for Saturday Seafood Buffet on the 18th. Highly recommend the food and service at the restaurant. We landed at 1715. The FBO fuel guy was refueling 2 black hawks and prior to arrival they advise us of the helicopter and to watch out on approach. After landing I asked fuel guy to top off the tanks. He advised that there would be a $10 surcharge since it was after 1700. Hey, your still on duty, never left and did not have to travel back to the airport. It's after 1700 and owner requires me to charge the surcharge. Not a friendly FBO. Will avoid buying any fuel at KARG with current operators. Response from Ken Newcom, Airport Manager, Walnut Ridge Regional Airport As posted on AirNav and almost all web pages there is an after hour fee. I start paying the refueling person time and one haft at one min. after 5:00 p.m. with the whole hour and not part of.. If you fly in with a small aircraft I am paying you to refuel your aircraft. This airport receives no city, county, state or federal money to operate the entire airport. I must be paid for services given to pay the light bill.

Flew in Friday for a Cessna 2 Oshkosh formation flight clinic. Jim Rodney was a GREAT help and attended to our every need. The fuel truck is a hoot! All day Saturday we used the lounge and held our clinic and Jim was always there ready to help. Fuel price is great also. The FBO building is fine and does not need an upgrade. Went to the 737 to eat Friday night. A great place to stop!

On first landing this is a SCARY looking airport with lots of dead airliners around - felt like a graveyard! - but settling in at the FBO I got great fuel service and a nice talk with Ken, the manager. I couldn't stay - had a graduation in Oklahoma to get to and the storms were building to the west - but did sniff around the attached restaurant, complete with Southwest 737 fuselage, and the catfish smelled wonderful. I'll be back with family in tow - thanks Ken and all for a great stop. Oh, and tip the young man who brings the fuel to you...
