Excellent! Stopping at C97 enroute to OSH has become an annual ritual for me. The experience takes you back in time to when flying was an adventure. Grass strip, cash fuel, farm products, friendly down home hospitality. Don Bailey owns and manages Lowell Aviation. He is Ninety years young and looks and acts half that. Inside the trailer is photos from the past, cold water and if you like, Honey and Jam from the farm. If you're nice, he will throw in a bag of sweet corn literally picked alongside the runway. Oh BTW, he has the cheapest gas in Indiana! Highly recommended.

Flew into Lowell last weekend with my instructor. Amazing first landing on grass. We were greeted by a man on his tractor with his dog. Spent a few minutes talking and decided to make a second landing. The grass runway is in great shape, the gas price was excellent (though we didn't get any) and I'm left thinking, wow... Why am I landing on Concrete, I want to land on grass more often. Anyone in the area should land here and experience what GA is about.

I have been stopping by C97 for three years on my way to OSH in our Harmon Rocket, what a great place! Mr. Bailey is a true grassroots aviation legend having instructed pilots in WW2 and still runs and FBO and flies every day. A great stop for cheap fuel, fresh corn out of his field, preserves, honey and the only public grass strip with an instrument approach in the USA! What more can you ask? You need to stop here!   I finished my private license here in the early 90's. A great place to visit and some of the best people I ever met. If you are nearby stop in. This is what GA is all about.
