This is a GREAT little airport!! If you are interested in just getting away to a quiet location to do a little camping, this place is perfect! I have been in here in a C152, C172 and an A36. The runway does have a bit of a slope and you do have to watch the flare b/c the pavement will drop below you. There is a little pond on the right side of RWY 16 where you may not be able to catch fish, but you can sure catch a lot of frogs...A friend of mine (Scott) caught like 10 in one day :) Just pull the plane off near the pond, unload the camping stuff, there are BBQ grills there and away you go. Also, off the end of RWY 34 are trails that you can hike on and pick wild berries. AWESOME place!!!

Nice quiet airport with good fuel prices. Runway landing 16 slopes down. Wondered where the asphalt was when I was rotating. Watch density altitude. Heard winds can be very shifty on approach to 16 as you approach over a canyon. Non-issue for us on our recent visit.

Wow! Small airport with great camping!!! The town does not have much to offer but if you are self-supporting, it is a great place to stop for an overnighter. Scott (from the E36 based helo-filming operation) was very welcoming and loaned us a little truck to drive to town. Fuel is quite reasonable (3.99/gal). Campground has running water and toilets but no showers. Just don't count on anything when you arrive and you may be happily surprised with what you may find. As far as airport camping goes, it gets a 9 only because of the lack of showers.

Price is still $3.75 as of May 22, 2006. Push the buttons firmly when entering in your "N" number for the card reader. Printer is not working. Don't expect a receipt.

A great inexpensive fuel stop close to Sacramento. However, keep in mind this is a mountain top airstrip with a treed hill within a mile or two of the south end--in other words, not an airstrip for everyone or every plane.
