Landed there for a pit stop and to refuel on a Sunday. No FBO services were available but local flyers were there and helped me to find aircraft oil for my plane. A very friendly group of local pilots were encountered. And fuel prices among the lowest around. I would stop there again in the future.

A friend and I enjoyed another great visit to San Manuel, including the handy crew car and friendly folks in town. The bad news is the golf course (and their restaurant) is closed. Romo's in town was very hospitable and the food excellent.

Good, fast fuel stop but nothing else. No car, nobody at all. Cold water in a trailer and a porta potty.

Thanks to the town of San Manuel and their fine airport for maintaining a very good courtesy car. That car makes San Manuel a good stop, as there is a good selection of restaurants very near by. Be sure to meet the fine folks in the hangars, Bob Metz and Parrish Traweek and Jamie for starters. E77 is a fine facility with fine residents and a great SS fuel price.

Stopped in Monday and enjoyed the use of a very nice airport car to get into town to eat. I'm thrilled that they now have a car available but disappointed that previous users haven't added anything to its gas tank. Come on, folks. Compare this to the cost of a rental car, or no car at all. Let's do our share to make the town know we appreciate the convenience. Fuel SS is now $3.90.

Stopped here today on the way from KAVQ to KPAN to fill up the tanks on my 182. Called ahead to make sure the price was still $3.60/gal. (The last update on AirNav was almost a month ago - 7/27/09.) Spoke with a nice man (Jim) who told me it was. Pumped about 40 gals (while enjoying the beautiful view) and then went in the pilot's lounge trailer to cool off for a few minutes. There was bottled water in the fridge, which was a really nice touch but no restroom. Found a portable toilet outside the gates and down the way a bit which had just been cleaned, however.

Arrived Sunday about 0700. There is a courtesy car there that can be found by calling the airport manager. We landed up hill on 29 with a slight tailwind. There is a golf course with restaurant about a mile west (2 miles by road) of the airport. They are open 0800 during the summer and earlier during the winter. Service was good (they allow us in for coffee at 0730 while waiting for the cook to arrive). Although SS fuel prices are quite low we did not need fuel. We departed downhill on 11. Field elevation is 3472 MSL so watch density altitude as temperatures rise. Departures should turn East for lower terrain.

Landed here with a minor engine problem. An AP/IA mechanic (and CFI), Parrish Traweek, runs a shop there. He did a great job fixing my problem and getting me back in the air. All the people there were very friendly and helpful. They really demonstrated what a close and friendly aviation community is all about. Thanks guys...
