Price was as advertised and they do have a port-a-potty now. However, the pump does not automatically or easily turn off. I hate paying for gas that evaporates on the ramp.
Response from Kurt Winker, Hooey LLC I talked with several folks after reading the complaint about the fuel pump turning off. This has never been reported before and no one else had a problem. If you let go of the handle, the fuel stops flowing immediately. If you turn off the pump, the fuel stops. I'd like to hear more about the specifics. P.S. If it is the case, it is NEVER prudent or safe to leave an aircraft while it is fueling.

Nice small airpark. Well maintained runway and always a fun place to practice short field landings. I've used the self service tank three times now and never a problem. (but I couldn't get the "A" key to tell me the price of gas). 100LL was $4.38 a gallon, a good $1.20 cheaper than at ABQ Int'l. One suggestion, a port-a-potty would be nice as there are no facilities and the bushes are trimmed too low to hide behind...

The Response from Kurt Winker, Hooey, Inc. is 100% true and accurate. He was a really nice guy when we were there in spite of the fact that he was not having things go well for him that day.

Saturday, July 22, 2006. We descended into Mid Valley airport at Los Lunas NM, the first fuel stop of the day. I looked around for the FBO to buy fuel. Surprise, there was no building, just a large white above ground fuel tank with the fuel hose and the usual credit card machine. Surprise #2, there were also two men working on the dispensing apparatus. They said they would have it working in an hour. The owner showed up and chatted with us for a while. 20 minutes later they thought they had it all fixed so Craig swiped his credit card and started pumping. Surprise #3, the pump stopped after about ½ gallon and the machine printed out a receipt for $187. That's $374 a gallon! Craig said a few choice words when he saw the receipt and the owner said he would give Craig credit for the error. (He did send Craig a check.) Ten minutes more and they were testing it again. It was working right. Craig swiped his credit card again and started pumping. Everything worked!
Response from Kurt Winker, Hooey, Inc. In response to Ed's comments: 1: Surprise, It is published nowhere that there is an FBO or a building at the fuel station in this residential airpark. You would think that a huge Phillips sign would be sufficient. Surprise #2, Things do malfunction and we were trying to get it fixed. I was cordial, polite and tried to offer any assistance I could. Surprise #3, Yes, this was a surprise. Unfortunately the pump manufacturer sent the wrong circuit board and that messed things up. This overcharge was repaid. Surprise #4, the board was replaced and I tested the unit in a 5-gallon can. It worked and I GAVE that fuel to the customer for the inconvenience at no charge & apologized for the inconvenience. We try to be as open and helpful as we can. Surprise #5 I never said I was "the owner". Kurt, Manager, Mid Valley Airport
