Stopped by F51 on the way to Austin for fuel since they had auto-gas. Topped off with 16 gallons. Not sure how much auto-fuel they sell, but you may want to ask Carl what the born on date is before a fill up. That goes for the candy as well. Anyway, Carl was super nice and helped us any way he could, even gave me a hand written receipt for fuel. They do not have computer access so weather and flight info had to be done the old fashioned way. For transients, the runway is nicely surfaced, but it does have a gentle hump (slopes up) in the middle of it, so be aware of it on short final.

Made a stop here to get a queasy passenger back on the ground. Facilities met our needs and Jim from Aircraft Inspections came over and gave passengers a ride to a local restaurant. (Big Thanks to you Jim.....) Nice runway and ramp surfaces!!!

Carl, the FBO, called me to say they have ethanol-free 92 octane mogas. The closest good mogas to Dallas.

Automated credit card machine working fine

Hose for auto gas pump is a bit on the short side. Had to nose airplane (C182) toward pump in order to reach both tanks. However, Carl was around and he's friendly and helpful. Best fuel prices you'll find in east Texas. I'm amazed at how the airport has changed for the better since the last time there (2003).

Fuel choice of 100LL (at $2.99 today) or mogas (at $2.69 today) with credit card starting of pump 24/7. I had no trouble getting pump turned on with credit card, but the receipt printer was out of order. No one around, but lounge and restrooms were unlocked. Quick and easy fuel stop.

Very nice airport; good fuel prices. But the pump is hard to use -- won't accept any of my credit cards. If you come while Carl (the "unofficial acting temporary airport manager") is around, you'll be greeted with a big dose of Texas hospitality and the keys to a courtesy car if you're hungry. A recommended stop on any cross-country.

I called the Winnsboro police on 3/22/06. They tell me the fuel is now a self serve credit card pump and there is no need to set anything up prior to arrival, I.E. The pump is on 24/7.

Fuel price is nice, but facilities are average at best. Pump meter did not reset properly and indicated I had delivered 5 more gallons than the tank holds if dead empty - and it wasn't empty. Had to call someone out to help sort it out so I could know how much fuel I really took. Took a little while for the police to find someone on a Wednesday, but they were helpful and friendly. If you want a receipt, run your credit card through a second time *immediately* after you finishing refueling.

Made fuel stop on Sept 19th and on Sept 22nd. Credit card worked just fine both times. No one was on site, but office and restrooms were open.

Arrived 18 Sept 05'-Concrete work on ramp around the self service pumps, narrow, short runway for twin, C-421, must head into pump, hose is short, unless single engine. Bank card machine would not take card even after several passes?

Arrived at about 1 am on Sunday morning. The airport frequency was being monitored by Carl Elkins, so he came by and visited with me while I filled up. At about 2:15 am, I noticed that my left tire was low ... Carl left the airport, retrieved a compressor from a mile away, and aired up my tire. This kind of service is astonishing.

Winnsboro now has credit card pumps for 24 hour self serve fuel. There is a courtesy car. The office is unattended, but the air conditioner is on and the rest rooms are reasonably clean. There is a pay phone in the office and a second phone that connects to the police department in case the card reader doesn't work.
