The cafe was outstanding and the fuel competitively priced and easy in-easy out on our flight through last month. Thanks for the great service!

Stopped in during a x-country based on the good reviews read here. Cafe is just as advertised! Also wish to add, the self serve pumps work well . . . Someone took the time to write out very good step-by-step procedure to pump the gas. There was no guessing. They have Jet-A too.

I worked at Wright-Patt from 1999 to 2005, At least once every two months or so I would make it a habit to stop in with my passengers or just the family for the classic airport experience. The food is at reasonable prices too can't beat that!

We recently flew up here again. The experience was a lot better than the last time. The restaurant has great food!

Folks, This as close to flying into a Norman Rockwell painting of the golden age of general aviation as you are going to get. The cafe is closed on Mondays. Please do not post a nasty-gram if you go there to eat on Monday.

Stopped in at Urbana with 2 Bonanzas for a tour of the National Museum of the USAF. All of the people we encountered were most helpful by providing a T-hangar space when severe wx threatened and then, when the Easter snow storms dumped 4" on my airplane, went out of the way to provide electrical power for engine heat & aid in deicing. One fellow even went so far as to invite us all over for Easter dinner. Were we unable to depart due to the weather. Carol Hall and her people along with Dave Burdick (project leader for the B-17 which I recommend viewing) were most helpful. You will want to sample the cuisine at the airport cafe (I recommend the butterscotch pie). For an IFR clearance on the ground you must call DAY APC at 937-454-7282.

Not the best airport we’ve been to. We arrived in a Piper Arrow to have lunch at the restaurant. When we got inside there was nobody around and the restaurant wasn’t open. Very disapointing. Would not recommend!
Response from Carol Hall, Grimes Field, Airport Manager The Airport Cafe is not open on Monday. But open other 6 days and this is published. I'm sorry the Piper had a bad time. Many others come in on Mondays also, but they come back on other days. There is also a B-17 restoration on the field that everyone is invited to visit. It is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 4:30 and Saturday, 9:00 to 3:00.
