Nicest private airport I've ever been to as well & the best turf field I've ever landed at. At 2, 300 feet, the runway is longer than I expected as well as quite wide and pleasantly well marked. There is a big paved area with plenty of tiedowns and a box where you're on your honor to leave $10 if you stay overnight as I did. Oddly, the airport was completely unattended and no one there answers phones. Two important things to know about this airport are (1) it is very cross-windy and swirly; and (2) there is lots of steep terrain quite near the airport. If you plan to use their smartly designed self-service fuel system make sure you do the math to confirm that you will be able to meet the necessary climb gradient, which is pretty steep. K23 is the closest airport to the baseball Hall of Fame. I didn't get to visit on this trip but did admire it from above when I flew over it and the lake -- both of which are less than 10 miles away.

Definitely a great airport to use as a fuel stop and to stretch your legs. Too bad there isn't any food... Don't let the fact that it is turf scare you away. It is very smooth and well positioned for the valley where it is located. We fly a PA32 and have seen everything there from the oldest fabric planes to V-tailed Bonanzas. Try it, you will go back.
