Stopped in for a re-fuel. They were extremely friendly and helpful

I diverted here after encountering engine roughness en route from LEX to SYI today. I was pretty sure it was carb ice but hoped a mechanic could look at it. The one there...And I can't remember his name...Was very nice, ran the plane, and determined all was ok. He wouldn't accept any payment, even though his checking meant a lot to my well being. And he was right; all was smooth the last 110 nm. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up for such service!

Stopped at Russell County Airport (K24) on a trip to Georgia and on the return trip. On the first leg, we used the courtesy car to take into the town of Jamestown. The Jamestown Cafe was quaint and the food was good and only 2 miles from the airport. The courtesy car could be upgraded, but it ran on most of the cylinders. The staff was very accommodating and on the return leg, we were invited to a plate of BBQ chicken, beans and potato salad. Fuel price was as advertised.

If you are a transient looking for reasonable fuel prices, DON'T STOP HERE. Even though both of the persons I saw at the FBO were pleasant and helpful the fuel prices as posted on July 28, 2005 (two days before my stop) were not even close to what I was charged. The update posted on 7/28/05 on Airnav showed 100LL at $2.82. I was charged $3.35 without so much as a "sorry about that." FBOs that misrepresent fuel prices in this manner should be run off of Airnav. We don't need that kind of help.
