I purchased a Cessna 140 in August. Ken Wittekiend work with me on my tailwheel endorsement in Llano on the turf runway 13/31.I have known Larry for some time now, but I had the chance to fly over in the middle of the week and meet Kathy who is just as friendly as Larry. Thanks for everything.

Fabulous service! Stopped in for Cooper's BBQ (very tasty) and fuel (nice and cheap @ $3/ gal). Very friendly folks...Everything a FBO should be. Nice facilities and wonderful people. How could it be better?

A great little airport with reasonable 100LL prices, friendly staff, and courtesy vehicle available. Facilities are brand new and very accommodating. You can't beat KAQO for a fuel stop or local BBQ at Cooper's. Five star rating from this pilot!

From Brent Berarducci on 25-Sep-2008
Spent several hours at KAQO today. Flew in from Addison on a cross country getting initial qualificaiton in a Piper Malibu Mirage. This is as great as Texas hospitality gets. The FBO has been recently refurbished, nice lounge, granite countertops and a very nice full bath (yes, there is a shower) that anybody would be proud to have in their home. The runway and ramp are in excellent condition and the folks at the FBO are quick with a courtesy car for a trip into town and lunch at Cooper's BBQ. It is wonderful that they are so generous and provide great service so we put $15 gas in the courtesy van and cleaned the windshield - they are that nice that it's like borrowing a friend's car. Fuel prices are amazing, we purposely taxied in on fumes to take advantage and even though it is self service we had assistance. The crosswinds in the hill country are a workout, but it's worth the trip.

Larry is a wonderful steward of this airport. He was very friendly. He even noticed I had a main that was about 10psi low and filled it right up without me even asking. Fuel prices are about as low as I have seen recently in Texas. Very courteous (home) flyers in this area.

From Tom Drake on 22-Apr-2008
Thanks again Larry for great service. A nice brand new FBO with gas 2.25 less a gal (no typo) than my destination KSAT.

Great place to stop. Larry meets you at your plane and is very friendly. Must go to coopers while your there!

From Alan Waggoner on 16-Sep-2007
Great stop! Larry came right out and helped with the fueling. Friendliest place I've been and he would not accept a tip. He suggested we go to Cooper's and it was well worth it. Thanks Larry. We'll be back Alan Waggoner 1K4

Flew in for a couple of days of dove hunting. Larry met us at the pump, helped us navigate the card reader (it is very slow) and even helped us in to an available hangar (no door, but, out of the potential for central Texas weather). Fuel was lowest of the trip, runway looks brand new and the new airport building is great. When they get two phone lines so you can talk to FSS (if you can get them on the phone) and look at weather online at the same time this will be the perfect place to be.

Stopped by last week on my first dual cross-country. Airport was closed but it was no problem. New office facilities are not yet completed but will be nice when done. I look forward to returning and getting some BBQ nearby!

Not only is Larry a great guy, but also he just might have saved my life yesterday. We were making a straight in to 17 from Dallas and announced our position from 20 miles out every 5 miles or so. There were a few planes in the area and one on the runway when we announced a 3-mile final. Right at the last minute we get a call from the ground saying, "You've got a plane right above you, turn left, turn left." It turns out there was a pilot who hadn't been in a plane in over a year flying in from Gainesville with a girl he was evidently trying to impress. We have traffic radar in our plane, but he didn't have his transponder on. He also wasn't making radio calls. Thanks to Larry we're here to tell about it. Thanks again Larry!

The city is building a new terminal/office/pilot lounge. It's not going to be fancy but an order of magnitude above the old building. The service is still 24 hr self serve and attended during business hours. Prices still the best around and the Bar-B-Que is always the best.

From James Hambright on 12-Aug-2006
Stopped in to fuel the 170 on the way home. Was met at the pump by two very nice gentlemen. The gas price is about the best your going to get in that area.

Stopped at Llano for a break headed to Mustang Island with the family. The fuel was priced right and the service was great.... Very friendly. The courtesy car was an old cop car and was in decent shape and the facilities were OK (nothing fancy for sure but it works). Nice going Llano in making us feel welcome and being a great place to stop.

From Charlie Brown on 22-Apr-2006
A fine place to stop...The strip has just been resurfaced...The fuel is cheap...And Larry met us at the pumps for fuel help....My kind of place

From Dan Robertson on 14-Apr-2006
It keeps getting better at Llano! The runway has been extended in the past half year, with a full length parallel taxiway now in place. The main ramp has also been resurfaced since our visit last year. The welcome is always warm here.

What a terrific little airport! Very cheap fuel and super friendly service. My party of three went to Coopers in a self drive white van provided by Coopers. Coopers is an interesting place.

From Peter and Paula on 16-May-2005
During our stopover beginning of March 2005 with our Seaplane on our "flying west adventure" from Florida to Arizona we received an exceptional warm welcome and enjoyed Larry Cooks hospitality as well as runways and FBO in best condition. Thanks a lot. We highly recommend this place.
