Currently there is no FBO, no restaurant, no open terminal or other building and just a porta-potty. There's a new terminal under construction (locked) and an old terminal empty (locked). At some point soon hopefully this will be a nice airport again. That said, it was fun watching the gliders and it's a short walk to the Appalachian Trail for a hike, and there's a stop-n-shop next to the airport with a salad bar and deli.

KAQW is a small town airport that recently experienced a social upset when the FBO operator was accused of stealing fuel from the city and subsequently removed from the airport commission. While he was not prosecuted, he was not welcomed back onto the commission. The result of this drama is a local flying club filing FAA complaints on anyone who they deem not on "their side" this has resulted in several innocent people coming under scrutiny by various state and federal agencies. My advice? Steer clear until this little Payton Place calms down.

Might be the most beautiful small airport in America. Easy to get into, new asphalt everywhere, cheap and easy to access self-serve gas, and the worlds most accommodating Airport Manager. Located in the stunning Berkshires and very close to the Williams College Campus. A beautiful destination of its own. Cheap overnight fees...Got to be the best day trip around.
