Very quaint New England motel with nicely remodeled rooms and balconies. There are some cottages too but none of us stayed in there so we can't comment. It's very close to the Airport and the FBO or motel staff will shuttle you if you ask. You could also walk; it's not much more than a 1/4-mile around the airport fence. We met a few pilots and their families at breakfast. There are a couple of "Lobsta Pounds" within a block, and we went to the "Contra Dance" at the old school hall across the street. (It's a kind of like folk, square dance). I highly recommend the Open Hearth!

Stayed there overnight last weekend. I recommend that you make a reservation, we saw a lot of places with vacancies but this one was fully booked -- which is understandable, because it's great. Stayed in a "motel" room, don't be scared by the term, its very nice and comfy, with a deck outside where you can sit and watch the planes take off over your head. The innkeepers Chuck and Sue are very nice, gave us lots of tips what to do because it was our first time in the area, and each and every tip worked out great. Breakfast is a good time to meet other guests and get yet more tips about what to do. Don't forget your swim shorts as they have a hot tub, and yes, it does get cold enough for that in the evenings up there even in August. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Great stay. Highly recommended. Don't bother going anyplace else in the area; you won't beat the price or the food, not to mention it is next to the airport.

Excellent service at recent annual (just like the past few years). All squawks corrected and finished on time! Who could ask for more?

I found the owners of the Open Hearth Inn to be truly nice people, and a pleasure to talk with. They made us feel at home. We stayed in the motel section and found the accommodations far exceeded our expectations. The continental breakfast was terrific too. Best of all they are right on the departure path of the main runway to the south... and when that B-17 roared overhead ... SUPERB!! Also I must say that Sea Scape Kayaking was truly the highlight of our visit. They took us on an excursion to see the "Ovens" ( an old Indian sight where nature carved very large 'caves' into the rocky shore). The Maine water so clean, and the Acadia Park mountains were closeby. Ed and Cherly, let us use Dagger Halifax 17 foot rotomoulded kayaks... which are awesome boats!! Speedy and agile... a really serious boat. We had a great time.... kayaking, flying, and the scenery. Can't wait til next year. And the approach to BHB is safe for us VFR pilots.
