Flew in 10/10. Updated building, it's a very nice facility now. $10 landing fee, $12 cab ride each way to town. Or walk 20 minutes downhill to town.

Flew in to meet family at the beach. It was midweek and not busy at all. I'm sure it would be on a weekend. My son and I parked and were at the beach 15 minutes later for all of 10 dollars. Cab will take you right to Fred Bensen beach. There is standard Block Island beach fare right there if you need it and the beach is fantastic with fine sand. A great family experience all and all. This place is stellar!

Great service. Friendly, helpful team. Follow-me golf cart contacts you immediately on landing, guides you to parking, and drives you to the FBO. No fuel, but great place and great people. I came and went on a Friday in August. Looked like about 75 planes had come that day. Staff estimated 150 would come on the Saturday. VERY busy air traffic -- use a lot of caution, look and call meticulously. When I arrived in near the pattern, 5 other aircraft were entering. We went to Ballard's Beach. Pros: biggest waves (we're told), convenient restaurant/bar (made me wish we weren't flying out that day, easy rentals of beach chairs, $12 cab ride for four. Cons: crowded -- very near ferry terminals.

All service was excellent, except no drinking water was available and it was a hot day. There was no drinking fountain; water in restroom sinks was only warm. Perhaps if the restaurant was open, I could have bought a bottle of water. The desk people were helpful and indicate there had been many complaints reported by them but no change. Before the updated building, water was available. I don't know why it is but it seems for at $10 landing fee, you should be able to get a free drink of water!!

Angelo & Brenda went above and beyond to help me out after I realized the restaurant was cash only. They were very friendly and did everything they could to ensure I had a successful trip. I really made the visit that much more enjoyable. I will absolutely be back. Landing fee waived if eating at the restaurant.

New terminal building is beautiful. Bethany's Diner is also in the new facility. Perfect Clam Chowder.

$10 landing and $15 overnight fee and no hangars for overnight. The small diner on the airport probably not worth being the main reason to fly there unless you can get the landing fee waived but don't count on it... It's a mostly downhill mile walk to town. We ate at Finn's and will try a different spot in town next time. A half-hour cab partial island tour starting in town and ending at the airport cost $38 total for 2 couples and well worth it. The island is more folksy than the similarly sized and populated Mackinac Island Michigan but if you like BI you also have to try flying in to Mackinac as well. Taxi driver said that after Columbus Day, the tourist parts shut down in a hurry and only about 800 full timers stick around. Was also told by a local that it's not uncommon for the island airport to fog over within minutes. Surprising amount of car traffic on the island so you have to pay real attention while out and about on foot or on bike playing tourist.

$15 overnight parking fee. Taxi to Old Harbor was $11. Very helpful and friendly. You'd be wise to bring tie down ropes with you, it's breezy here and they only had two ropes for our use.

Friendly. Had a "followme" truck on a busy weekend.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Wonderful destination for a day or week.

Excellent, friendly service at a busy little airport.

Super destination any season of the year. Beautiful greenway walking trails start just outside of the airport perimeter. Rolling hills, ocean vistas, and lush meadows all can be enjoyed a few minutes from your tie down spot. Tom and his crew have always gone out of their way to accommodate pilots with directions to attractions, walking maps, places to eat, and local events. It can be busy so keep your eyes open and make your radio calls on approach and departure. Also remember to check out the great pictures behind the terminal's counter. No gas here but Landmark also runs Newport RI airport UUU (a few minutes flight) w/ fuel at $4.60 as of 2-08. A terrific spot for a stop, one of my favorites.

The customer service here was as friendly as it gets. And professional, too. No landing fee. But the traffic was quite busy for a winter weekend. No tower. One errant pilot entered the pattern unannounced. So prepare to be on your toes in the traffic area. But the warm greeting you get when you land is worth everything.

Stopped in for breakfast the morning after the Pats win over Jacksonville. Great way to cap of a fantastic weekend. Get to this classic aviation diner before they tear it down and put up the new terminal. There is also no fuel on the island.

I am a student at Daniel Webster College, and I was doing a flight for my X-C practicum to KBID. Upon landing the airport manager was in a yellow truck giving me directions for parking. I have never received such service from any airport. After parking to get out to stretch my legs for a bit I had a chance to converse with some of the staff at the airport. They were friendly and courteous. I even got a chance to check out the New England Airlines Islander! I was very pleased with the service I received and recommend any pilot that has a chance to fly there to take it!

This place, both Landmark Av and Block Island are top notch. Parking is tight, but I've got a personal escort to a spot every time I've arrived, guy on a golf cart calls out to you on the CTAF before you've even left the active. Be alert this is one of the busier non-tower airports out there and it can be a beehive. Advisories from PVD approach will get you 5-10 nm away, but you've really got to keep your eyes peeled and alert on the CTAF on busy days... Great spot!

I have been flying to Block for over 10 years, and the folks at Landmark are top notch. We put a car there this year and have had the good fortune to use it quite a bit. Every time we fly in, the crew is more than helpful and courteous. Keep up the good work!

From Henk Houtenbos on 18-Jul-2007
Awesome airport, great friendly staff and the little diner is a perfect reason to land at Block, just remember to listen to the parking instructions on 122.85, if you park correctly you may not have to pay any landing fees!!!

We rented bikes from Block Island Bike and Car Rental. They only charged $10 per bike for the afternoon. Nothing fancy, but they worked fine. Really a scenic place to ride. We saw a couple of interesting scooter incidents and had a great seafood lunch and flew home.

We frequent BID year round and are happy to see much need improvements. New signage, taxiway and paved areas. Parking is down from 100+ spots to 50 so plan early arrival. $10 landing fee for the day unless you frequent Bethany's and are there for less then an hour.

This is an awesome place to fly in for lunch. The restaurant is a bit small but the FBO here makes it worth dropping in for. These are some great guys that very user friendly. If you are a pilot from a Landmark FBO, there is no landing fee. THERE IS NO GAS HERE so don't come in on fumes thinking you have planned your flight just right - you'll be in for a shocker. They just resurfaced the runway and the taxiways are very clean. Definitely within walking distance to town. Great place.
