Reasonable small airport. The runways are hard to identify do to the aging asphalt which blends into the field color. There was no one on duty either Sat. Or Monday and we had to call for fuel on Monday. Don't expect them to fire up the new BP fueler for you. You will need to taxi to the pump...Even if your driving a larger twin and taking on two hundred gallons.

This little South Texas country airport provides probably the best services of any small airport I've ever been too! Bond and his associates will take you to town, hotel, or to eat no charge for taxi services. They also will provide catering with a little advanced notice. The fuel prices are negotiable with amount of purchase. I have bought fuel as cheap as any place in the U.S.

Very helpful staff. They do the best they can under heavy seasonal traffic demands. All services were cheerfully provided; just don't expect Signature-style FBO facilities in South Texas.

I've been coming into BKS for 15 years. From a GI to the GV and have always been treated with good south Texas hospitality. These people work hard to make your visit to BKS a good experience. I've seen pilots that arrive with no ground transportation driven back and forth to the hotel as a courtesy. A deer fence surrounds the airport and you will not find that at other airports in the area. They do require a landing fee in lew of a fuel purchase but it is very minimal, just about any fuel purchase will wave the landing fee. Good place to go.

I had a good experience and found the staff to be very helpful.

We flew some guys out here for a hunting trip in NOV 06. Poor facility, under 5000' runway. Many runway lights out. No VASI or PAPI. Generally rundown. No computer or WSI for weather. Just a shack with some toilets. Surprised we could get coffee and ice! We were charged a $100.00 landing fee!!! For almost nothing!! They wanted 4.06 or something for fuel. Don't waste your time here go to "T43 Mc Campbell". Better facility and no fees!! Or, just go to Corpus. Went to Addison Million Air, only got charged $50.00 ramp fee (didn't get fuel) but it’s a nice FBO with all the trimmings. BKS doesn't have one redeeming quality and cannot justify that fee. For such a run down place you would expect a deal on fuel etc..

Be prepared during hunting season for excessive landing fees. For less than 10 min on the ramp in this backwoods airport for a King Air we were charged $50.00. What did we get for $50, help with bags, guns, trash, no just a hand out for our $50 and acted insulted when we asked for a receipt.....
