Attended an FAA knowledge exam prep class this weekend with Mike Haider. Great class for anyone who is getting into aviation. I learned a ton about all aspects of flight, comms, instruments etc. Mr. Haider was a great instructor, very knowledgeable. I highly suggest you take this class.

Called the day before and Denise said she could get us a rental for the next morning. Upon arrival there was the car. Toured the NASA place. Little pricy. Go to Big Bob Gibson BBQ in Decatur for outstanding food. NAA staff was above and beyond. I'll be back.

Reserved the courtesy car for 9-10 but arrived late due to wx. Called and notified Stan who said it wouldn't be a problem. Arrived around 1000 as another person landed who also wanted to use the courtesy car. No problem! Denise took care of us all and we were on our way. Was topped off immediately and I enjoyed the popcorn and spacious lounges. Was thanked by Denise on Unicom as we left. Thanks again!

Landed at DCU 4/13/11 for several days to visit family. While there, severe weather warnings were issued, thunderstorms, hail, tornado, etc. I called and asked if our airplane could be placed in a hangar to protect it from hail. That was done with NO CHARGE! Great new facility, great service!! Thanks.

Stan and Ben are fantastic! They have relocated the FBO to the new building on the north end of the field (very nice, showers available and a great pilot lounge/snooze room) and drove down to let us know there was no fuel at the old tanks (now removed). They don't have a courtesy car but happily drove us into town, recommended a hotel (Holiday Inn), and told us about the airport discount. Stan drove us to dinner and he and Ben were back at 7 am to pick several of us stranded pilots up even after a late night loading freight! His wife (not sure of name anymore) even made up a barbeque lunch for us. Tremendously gracious hosts, wish we could have stayed longer! Really can't say enough good things about this FBO. The only thing I am not sure about is if they have self-serve available still (fueled by truck when we stopped).

A sweet WWII Building, with an airport dog- and- cat show that put a smile on my face all day. Nice people. I'll be back, even if there’s a fancy FBO down the ramp.

I recently attempted to contact the airport manager about the lights and beacon being out-of-service from the last time I flew in. There's no NOTAMS other than the REILs being out. I called flight service to verify and they didn't see anything listed either. I did a night IFR training flight last week. We shot the VOR 18 down to MDA and didn't see anything (we were visual at that point). We made several attempts to activate the HIRLs on the CTAF with no joy. If the manager can't afford the 15-minute power bill, then he should notify the FAA instead of making us pilots waste our fuel flying into airports that aren't lighted. There are plenty of other airports to fly to.
