Office staff is friendly, but fuel is extremely extensive, more then YKM, and western Washington. Fill up anywhere else but not here. FBO has extremely strict policies for out of Towner’s. They teach their flying students to enter traffic patterns on the 45 to the upwind!!! So be on the lookout for student pilots and everyone doing a lot of crazy stuff. Have these people read the AIM lately?!?! 45 to the upwind are NOT an official entry to the pattern, and they're teaching new pilots this procedure. WHY?

Had to stop @ KELN on 7/28/07 to wait for weather to clear in the Puget Sound area and decided to top off the tanks. Midstate has the dubious honor of having the most expensive gas by far during our trip across the country from the Seattle area to Oshkosh and back. The pumps don't list the price (no doubt by design, 'cause nobody would buy any gas there if they listed the exorbitant price!). If you don't want to pay $1+ more per gallon of avgas than you'd typically pay elsewhere, you might want to avoid KELN / Midstate Aviation....

Landed there on 20th of July with about 10 other aircraft waiting for weather to clear in the mountains. The highest price I ever paid for fuel. From $.90-$1.37 more than I paid in the previous few days. Situational price gouging going on here. Worst part is they tried to convince you how justified there prices are. I’ll never stop here again and recommend avoiding if possible.

I flew into this airport because of weather. They have high fuel prices and was charged $4.85 instead of the $4.65 (AirNav) posted price. I had to go into town to buy my own tie downs straps. Not happy!!! Nice building since it is an aviation college site, nice clean bathrooms. $10 taxi gets you into town and Super is one of the cheaper motels, tell them you have AAA for a 10 % discount. Restaurants in walking distance.

Good folks at Midstate. We landed to top off before crossing the Cascades on the way back to Seattle. Even though it was just past closing time, they unlocked the gate, filled our tanks with a smile, and let us in the office for a pit stop.

Do not rent a car from Dollar Wise. I was charged a drop off fee even when I cancelled a week ahead of time.

We read all the existing comments prior to flying to KELN and were determined to see what greeting we would get upon our arrival. We have to say that it was all very, very good. Very friendly desk staff and the line person was more that helpful. I called ahead inquiring about tie down fees and the like and was told about the policy of the deposit on the tie down ropes but when we paid for our tie down spot for the night, no mention was made about the deposit and yes, we had nice new looking ropes for a secure tie down overnight. We will go back to KELN and look forward to visiting Midstate Aviation for all who we came in contact with there was most pleasant and helpful.

Wow, talk about unaviator friendly. I landed with my family to get some fuel 20min after the official closing time. I walked around and found one of the employees still there. He told me it was a $40 call out for fuel to be unlocked. After visiting with another pilot on the field the same guy said he would do it for just $20 now. This was someone who did not even need to be called out! What really concerned me was when I indicated I would just fly to an airport 25mi away, he indicated that they had a call out fee as well. My AOPA directory said otherwise and it was right! I would recommend finding another place to use services than Midstate.

After reading the other comments, it reminded me of the time I had a problem there on a Sunday. I got an IA from the local college to help me, and this FBO tried to bill me for "us working on my airplane on THEIR ramp." Advice: Stay away from this place.
