I participate in the Virginia Aviation Ambassadors Program where you are encourage to visit each public-use airport in Virginia. The greatest benefit I have found in this program is the wonderful people that tirelessly run so many FBOs. Mel at EMV is one such person. You won't find a more humble and nicer gentleman. The FBO is welcoming and clean. Mel makes everyone feel special and treats you with courtesy and kindness.

Had an avionics / engine problem and needed to land. Called the number listed on the phone outside the terminal building and the gentleman who answered said someone would be right there. Well a couple of wonderful people showed up pretty much immediately. It was cold Sunday and they let me in the terminal and then called a mechanic I could speak with and offered their courtesy vehicle to drive to Wilson NC if I wanted to. It is refreshing to meet people of this caliber such, as Melvin and Robert both are first class in my opinion!! I will make a habit of stopping in just to say hi on my trips now!!

Stopped on the recommendation of other AirNav users, and received the same great service. I was to come in early in the morning before they open, and he mentioned he would be there for me. (Said he would mow grass till I got there) He went more than out of his way for me and my family. (And a circus we were) I really appreaciated his kindness to a C170B that only needed 22 gallons of fuel.

Stopped at Emporia unexpectedly due to weather for the night. Melvin was right there to help fuel us up. He offered us an empty hangar for the night because of the potential for strong storms. He recommended the hotel, helped push the plane into the hangar, loaded our luggage and gave us a car for the night. All free! I can't say enough about this great stop and the service that is better than ever I have experienced in all my years of flying. I highly recommend it!
