Eastport was the perfect stop for our trip to Halifax. The new self serve fuel works great and the price was quite competitive at $4.50/gallon...Certainly more coat effective than filling up on $8/gallon gas at CYHZ. Nothing fancy here, but the airport house has a bathroom, a phone (necessary, cell phone coverage is spotty), and wireless Internet and a computer. Hal stopped in after we landed on the way up and gave us a lift into town and had lunch with him at the pizza shop. On the way back, we filed EPM as our US airport of entry. It was super easy clearing customs here, the officer was waiting for us when we landed and the whole process took five minutes. With a trip to the restroom and a top off of fuel, we were back in the air in thirty minutes. Can't beat that!

Loved it! This was our first time visiting. Flew in on July 20th for just the day. Perfect place to explore by bicycle, but using the courtesy van certainly was convenient. Short drive in to town. There are shops, art galleries, and to be fair, some vacant store fronts. But, don't let that deter you. The setting is absolutely beautiful. You can see Lubec and Canadian islands across the water. There are also about 5 restaurants. The one recommended to us was the seafood place (a blue building) located on the waterfront w/ picnic tables. We watched fishermen load & unload their boats while we ate. The haddock sandwich was excellent! This particular restaurant is a great place to eat as long as you don't mind the occasional aroma of fish bait. (It's a working waterfront.) Everyone we met was very friendly and welcoming. Historic downtown Eastport is like the Camden of 40 years ago. Unspoiled, old-world authentic coastal Maine. We'll be back soon.

Yes, Eastport is beautiful, the van helpful, cheap fuel a true boon but takes bikes and you can easily explore this part of Maine and ferry over to Deer and Campobello Islands in New Brunswick. Flying over to Grand Manan is also worth the trouble of dealing with customs. This trip we stayed at the Kilby House B&B, which was excellent and excellent value. The proprietor, Greg, was fine when we had to overnight in Portland on the way up due to weather and missed our first night. In the past have stayed at the Weston House, very nice, and Motel East, Awesome view from room makes up for total lack of charm, but avoid the cave like lower level rooms. Don't miss Raye's Mustard Factory but buy your mustard at the IGA Foodliner across the street, it's much cheaper there! Seafood place below Motel East may be in the running for best lobster rolls but the pan-seared haddock sandwich might be even better.

Eastport has always been a great destination, but a challenge to get from the airport to town. Problem solved! The airport manager now has a courtesy van available to pilots for local use. Other improvements include a new SS fuel farm with excellent prices and high speed Internet access in the airport building. Wonderful experience. Go there!
