Stopped in for overnight on 10/16/09. Excellent SS fuel equip, good fuel prices and friendly folks in the FBO. They provided a courtesy car to go into town to find a room. Highly recommended for fuel stops or overnight. I plan to stop again on my way south.

I've gotten into the habit of stopping at GBD for self-serve fuel several times a year in my Bonanza, and the experience has ALWAYS been great. This time Martin not only was speeding to the pumps in his truck to lend a hand as we shut down, but he also said "wanna go to lunch" offering the keys to an airport car. It is a couple hundred yard walk to the terminal with very nice facilities and WIFI. Don't miss it.

Great stop for fuel on your way to anywhere with a great price. We needed a very late fuel stop and the self-serve is what we needed.

Stopped here going west on a Sunday aftenoon, (HOT). Good price fuel. Someone stopped by in a suburban and offer to give an air conditioned ride over to the terminal. There is even a phone number on the fuel pump to get a crew car! Great fuel stop!

With the inexpensive, 24/7 self-serve fuel and exemplary courtesy provided by Martin Miller, the airport manager, Great Bend is a wonderful place to stop! And, if you like Mexican food, be sure and ask Martin about lunch at Playa Azul. Delicious!

A+! Fantastic service. Martin bent over backwards to be helpful, even though we arrived after hours. We appreciated the crew car to get to a motel to get some sleep, and the fuel prices are great. I will definitely stop by anytime I am in the area! Highly recommended.

I called ahead to see about prist in Jet A. Spoke with Martin, told him we would be there about 12 noon, got there at 1215 and he was there to meet us. Gave us the airport car and directions to town to get something to eat. Great service, and the price was unbeatable. We will stop again on way home.

Found this airport because of AirNav prices, but will come back if I pass this way again. Really liked the new fuel equipment, so many self-serves only marginally work, this one is brand new and a joy to use. Nice clean pilot briefing area and restrooms. They are trying to do it right, so keep supporting them.

We stopped for fuel on 30 May, knowing we'd save a lot, and we did. We didn't have anyone show up to help us, but it wasn't necessary, either. I can keep this short by saying, "ditto" to the previous posts! We WILL here again and go some out of our way to do so. Thank you very much!

My Second stop at Great Bend and my second pleasant experience there. Martin Miller was going to accommodate me no matter what it took. I can't compliment him enough. Oh, by the way, the fuel is very competitively priced also.

May 3, 2009 on a cross-country trip from Ohio to Central Colorado it became obvious that we could not cross the mountains IFR, so we chose to stop at Great Bend overnight. Contacted Martin Miller who supplied a courtesy car and hangar for overnight. Fantastic help and hospitality as well as great fuel prices. I certainly will make Great Bend a regular stop. Thanks Martin, I highly recommend your facility.

The best self-serve price in the mid-west. We were met at the pump by Martin the airport manager and had friendly and fast service. Everything is modern, neat and tidy. We will stop there whenever the opportunity presents itself. We highly recommend that pilots support GBD.

Great X-country stop for low priced fuel. Easy in/out with fast turn around. Ground personnel even helped me pump fuel at SS price! Will stop on my future flights. The only minus is the rest rooms are a minute walk and my blatter was only ready for a 30 second walk!

Excellent place to stop for fuel/overnight! Self-serve fuel was cheap. The airport manager was incredibly helpful and gave us the courtesy car (Suburban) to use overnight, in order to get to our hotel & back. Note: We did call a few days ahead to reserve it.

Until this weekend, in over thirty years of flying, I've never received a personal letter thanking me for patronizing an FBO. This was a nice gesture, personally signed by Martin, thanking me for buying fuel. A new, clean, self-serve island and VERY competitive fuel pricing. I will go out of my way to buy fuel here again. Thanks

Martin and the City's low fuel price have made this one of the best fuel stops in the Midwest. Sadly, any self-serve, including at night, will end after June 1 when the TSA requires small airports served by even a single airline to perform background checks and issue badges to anyone who is given access to the operations area (I.E., "behind the fence"). (Transient pilots and their passengers will have to be escorted by a "badged" person at all times.)
Response from Martin Miller, Great Bend Self-Service Fueling Manager Although Great Bend (GBD) is a commercial service airport, the security directive requirements will not impact airports like Great Bend. No escort is, or will be, required to use the self-service pump.

Due to very strong winds, I stopped at Great Bend to top off fuel before continuing on to Las Vegas. Martin met us at the pump, helped fuel the plane even though it was after hours. I will definitely use this location in the future and want to thank Martin for everything.

We arrived late on a cold evening after a very long set of flights with still one more leg to go. The FBO had closed but Martin's phone number is on the fuel pump so I called him. He gave us the code to a lock box at the terminal and we were able to use the rest rooms and file flight plans. He even offered to come out and help us fuel is we needed it. Pizza Hut delivered pizzas to us in less than a half hour and we were in great shape to continue our flights. This is a GREAT stop.

We surfed AirNav for the best fuel prices and found KGBD along our route - glad we did! No hassle with bossy Class B controllers, your turnaround time is as fast as you want, the fuel price ($2.70!!) was exactly as advertised - and the hospitality was even better. Ret. Capt. Martin Miller (former A-10 driver - now the airport mgr.) was as helpful as they get. He offered us a courtesy car into town for lunch, and directions to the nearest great hotel. Not even Mom can do all that!

I stopped in for fuel at GBD for the first time on a late night in October and found quite an enjoyable experience. The runways were very well lit, and the fueling facilities were second to none!!! Obviously very new, and very well maintained. Helpful phone numbers were posted in several strategic locations as well. It was obvious that someone really wanted to be as helpful as possible. The best surprise was a letter in the mail a few days later thanking me for my business, and that they are looking forward to seeing me again! WOW! Now that's what I call service! Good job Martin. I will be back!!!

Pilots traversing the country anywhere near GBD should make a stop there. Service is tops, fuel price best in the country, loooong runway and an ILS. Martin Miller, a former WART HOG jock runs a great operation for the city. If your stranded, they even have an airline operating to several cities. Thanks Marty

On my way back from Aspen, CO I searched for a fuel stop. It was not easy to find one. I decided on GBD because they were open at my ETA and the price for 100LL was also terrific! The service was OUTSTANDING! Very helpful people, WiFi is also available.

In planning our fuel stop on a trip back to our home base in Alabama from Utah, I checked out the AirNav listing for Great Bend. After reading some of the comments about the service Martin provides, I thought "this is an endeavor I would like to support with my business." I wasn't disappointed. The only problem with the whole experience was I was late getting home because we stood at the fuel pump and traded flying stories! Keep up the good work!

Great Bend has one of the best self-fueling stations that I've seen anywhere. Martin Miller, the airport manager usually shows up to help you fill, and although it's a 24 hour self serve pump, after hours he can be reached on his cell phone which is posted everywhere around the pump station. One call to his cell phone and he can usually help with a crew car and sometimes even an overnight hangar. Great Service with the cheapest fuel around, now that is hard to beat.

WOW! After reading posts on AirNav, we stopped in Great Bend on our way to Denver on 7/18/08 and again on our way home 7/21/08. Martin was already at the self serve pump and asked a helicopter that had just finished refueling (and in no hurry to leave) to move so we could get to the pump. Very friendly people, incredible fuel prices, clean FBO.

Great Bend is a Great airport with friendly helpful staff. Upon arrival we were greeted by staff and had almost full serve gas service, at only $4.75 a gallon on July 11, 2008. We ended up not stopping at KGBD yesterday (went south because of concerted convective activity on the route) however I wanted to add my vote to how great Martin Miller is! We called the day before to ask about a hotel and tie down, he went out to a vacant tee hangar, measured to be sure our Baron would fit, and volunteered it for overnight if we were worried about threatening weather! I'm from the East coast, and we NEVER have folks look out for us like that!

Used Self Service system 12 May 08. Two fuel programs at field. One is FBO owned and other is city owned. City owns Self Serve system which has the lower prices. I asked about courtesy car. City system did not have a courtesy car. The FBO system has one but since I did not buy their fuel they would lend me the car for 10 dollars or I could rent a car. The FBO folks had someone in town so that person picked up lunch for me and I paid them when they came back to the airport. Overall my experience was positive and all of the folks were very pleasant and polite.
Response from Martin Miller, Airport Manager, City of Great Bend (self-serve fuel) The Courtesy Car is in place within 50 yards of the fuel pumps and ramp parking. Call 620 792-9446 to get immediate access.

The Self-serve fuel is CHEAP!!! If you have a Texaco or Chevron card you can knock off 10 cents from the posted price. Martin usually comes out to help you with the self serve process. Caution the FBO will guide you on to the ramp if you call on the radio for fuel prices as they are competitors to the self serve pump (FBO prices are HIGH)

Excellent fuel stop & low price with easy in and out. The city has installed a new first class self serve fueling station with a gallon read out that can be read from 40'. That is a real plus when fueling my 310. The ILS is an added advantage for GBD.
