Very fun airport to fly in to. On a plateau, so you can see the rolling mountains around you. They are extending it to the east, so there are lots of construction vehicles around. Wanted to leave early the next morning, called the manager, and he arrived over an hour early to fuel my plane up.

Had to land at KGEV due to adverse weather. The airport staff was very helpful, Bob at the airport even personally took my wife and me to a hotel in Jefferson for lodging to wait out the system. 1st class operation! Thank You!

Stopped at Ashe County airport on the evening of June 8 while flying VFR from New York to South Carolina in a Cherokee. Some thunderstorms were popping in the area. Although we arrived after hours, the fellow on duty was still there and stayed late to help with fuel and provide access to weather radar. He offered some helpful advice and local knowledge without tying to unduly influence our decision-making. Thanks for all the help! Very friendly place, wonderful scenery, would stop again!

Flew in here a couple of days ago. It is the epitome of a quaint small town airport with great service. The owner raised his 100LL prices by a large amount about 6 hours prior to my arrival, yet still gave me the rate from earlier in the morning. Most places don't do that anymore. LOC28 is steep, watch out if you've never been in here before and it's IMC. Will return!

Eric is the new manager. He has taken over like it's his own home, and you are welcomed guests. He is right there to help fuel up. Both AV 100LL and Jet fuel. He helps tie down and always meets you with smile and some chalks. THE "WIND GUSTS CAN BE WICKED! The airport slopes up into the predominant winds (landing 28), so coming in hot is not a problem. We use KUKF 20% of the time as alternate because of fog and bad weather.

Came up to meet my family after a Pilot and Paws mission. Was cold, and Eric (Manager) put me in the maintenance hangar and let me hook up my engine heater for the night...Started easily the next morning, getting me on my way back home. Always enjoy this airport, beautiful setting.

Top notch airport. Good, friendly service with a very reasonable fuel price. After an overnight on the ramp my aircraft experienced its first cold weather of the season and the battery was too weak to start a cold engine. Eric got me jumped off pronto and on my way with a smile and no charge. Thanks guys - I'll be back!

Ashe County Ford, a local dealer, provides rental car availability at, and delivered to, the airport. Peggy, the contact, is a pleasure to deal with. For after hour arrivals she provides a car with keypad entry and the keys under the floor mat. Call (336) 246-7183 and ask for Peggy.

Outstanding Mountain Airport. Service is great, folks are friendly and there's plenty of ramp space & tiedowns. Fuel is very reasonable...Although there's no more "cash" discount, which is fine b/c I prefer to pay with a CC anyway. The hangar is only $10 per night for transient SE aircraft (Wow)!! With T-storms in the area, my bird went inside. Small price to pay for piece of mind. The local ford dealer (Peggy) provides rental cars and will drop off and pick up. Zaloo's canoe's is a great time. We love Jefferson / Ashe County. THANKS GEV!!! We’ll be back.
