I gather the windy conditions are common at this field, but what a great way to stay proficient! We visited HLX on Jan 29 to get our Virginia Ambassador Program stamp. Marcus was very friendly and helpful - we hope to come back for a longer visit :)

Lots of wind coming off the mountain range made for a challenging approach/landing, FBO was very accommodating to my sick passenger, offered a few sick sacks for the flight- one came in use- can't thank you guys enough!

Nice smaller airport with friendly, helpful people. A good place to stop!

Flew up to visit the fiddler's convention in Galax for the day. They guys were friendly and helpful. The fuel price is excellent. And, the courtesy car is a retired police cruiser. What more could you ask for? :)

Stopped here for fuel and overnight on our way back from Mexico. Great little airport and Dave was helpful with a courtesy car. Great fuel prices. Stayed at Quality Inn nearby that was very clean and well located. Also, they allow pets would stop here again.
