What started as a fuel diversion with ATC, quickly became an emergency into KHOE with 1 engine out. I've never been happier to land on a runway, however quickly realized my problems had just began. Everything in the previous posts are true. The airport was basically abandoned. No fuel with none coming for a while. Supposedly they also have to decontaminate their tanks when fuel does come. 5-stars to the neighbor who saved the day for me! A gentleman named Foster Smith took half his day to drive me to Waycross to shuttle fuel in containers back to my plane. As mentioned, this could be a great stopping point someday. Abandoned FBO, does have restrooms, so good for those kind of stops.

Remembering this airport, from the early 1970's, I had planned on stopping in, to partake of the excellent BBQ Restaurant in town. After reading of how the airport is receiving minimal (at best) support from the Mayor, I will overfly. Very sad state of affairs.

It is a real shame that this neat little airport is not receiving the support of local government. I'm a Canadian wandering vagabond with an airplane and landed partly just to see and partly for the shower. A neat and pleasant terminal. And I was met by Nass Hendley, a local aviator with a para-glider. He drove me in for dinner and extended wonderful Southern hospitality. I hope the local governments can get behind this gem.

This airport is definitely a ghost town. I was there on 10/27/2010. Not a single person or aircraft. Even the self-serve fuel pump was out of order.

Flew to HOE on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 to eat. Airport nearly deserted. No fuel, no courtesy car. Called Jimbo's Log Kitchen and owner picked us up. Learned Mayor has no interest in airport and has done nothing to help General Aviation at HOE. Airport has gone down since previous visit.

HOE has a new mayor & government re-shuffle. This is why 100LL is out. Has been now for months. Please everyone who wants to & has used HOE for its GREAT self service fuel stop with wonderful prices write in using their email link to ask the new government to bring 100LL back! I did. I've used HOE for years as my stop of choice going to FL & back. But no reason to stop without fuel.

I learned a lesson today. Guaranteed does not insure that the FBO has the fuel. Always call ahead. On my way from NC to FL today, I made my planned stop in Homerville based on AirNav information. Unfortunately there was a sign on the fuel pump that there was no 100LL fuel available. I ended up going on to Suwannee Co. Airport right across the GA-FL line where the fuel was very reasonable and the FBO operators were very cordial and accommodating.

The hospitality of this small town can't be described in words. They want you to stop and visit and they want you to come back! We stopped for fuel on way from West Palm to Chattanooga. We used courtesy car and my 3 yr old son lost the key in the steering column. We called City Mgr and he came out and said use the other courtesy car...You are in Homerville, we want you to be happy. I apologized up and down and said I would pay for whatever it took.. He was very very kind and said don't worry; we will take care of it.. We just want you to come back. Went to Log Kitchen down the road for Bar B Q...GREAT. Fuel was cheap and bathrooms were clean. Will stop here again and again. Talk about general aviation friendly.... WOW!!

It’s really quite simple. A well maintained self-serve fuel pump, a clean FBO building with Internet. Courtesy car. And really inexpensive fuel. It’s called a fuel stop, and for South Florida trips, this is mine! Only request ... Put a printer on the computers. Thanks!

Stopped in Homerville for fuel both north and south bound on a flight to Florida. No one was around, but the fuel was only $3.59. Facilities were clean. I appreciated, but didn't use, the crew cars. I will be back.

Excellent stop on our way to Florida. Best fuel prices around, $3.59 for 100LL. Although sometimes unattended, Homerville has all amenities available anytime. Wx briefing is available by phone or one of their two computers, clean restrooms, and we used the courtesy car to run into town for lunch. Don't miss the Crossroads Cafe, 5 minutes towards town, for their delicious soups and sandwiches. Enjoyed Homerville so much we stopped on the way back. Airport Manager, Albert Thornton, greeted us and made us feel right at home.

Grass is cut, 100LL was dispensed. Taxiways are narrow, so if you have a wide wheelbase A/C I would give consideration to back taxi at night if you are not familiar with the field. I thought it was a nice fuel stop. Price is great 3.59/100LL. Was dark when I stopped and did a quick turn so didn't get a chance to go inside, had a prefiled flight plan.

Have stopped here happily on many occasions. Guess they're having a bad week-- Credit card reader would scan cards but not accept any of them, weeds so high next to narrow taxiway that they slapped into my low wings all the way down. Vehicle gate to outside left open for anyone to drive in and potentially vandalize the terminal (and my airplane) Hope they fixed their computers, because the last time I was there, neither could be used to file a flight plan with DUATS. Hopefully, all will be straightened out soon.

The airport is in adequate condition, but the runway has been refurbished with plenty of bitumen to cover up the cracks. The FBO is very nice inside, and all required amenities are provided, including courtesy cars. With the door code one can enter any time. It would be nice though if the airport was fenced in. The fuel is cheap, but was a little "streaky" upon sumping, but ran just fine. Excellent southern hospitality. N17386.

Great little airport. Unattended FBO, but easy access. Clean facilities all around. Runway is in fair condition and the taxiways are on the narrow side. Cheap fuel, price as advertised. An alert for the security conscious, the airport is completely accessible by anyone. However, due to the good state of the FBO and easily accessible crew cars, I believe the area is appreciative of this airport, and not intending any harm to visitors or their property. Recommended for a fuel stop or otherwise!
