Used Sound Aviation several times this summer and had a great experience every time. They worked hard for our business.

I've flown into HTO many times in the last two years, but SOUND AVIATION there is anything but SOUND or REASONABLE. For starters, I told them I'd only leave my plane for ONE HOUR to grab a bite, yet they still banged me a full $20 ramp fee - a first! (BTW: No crew car - had to walk 3 miles into town in 99 degree weather!) Secondly, they topped off my tanks with (they claim) 13.1 gallons of overpriced 100LL (I own a Cessna 150, which has a 22.5 gal. Capacity) and they still charged the full ramp fee. What irks me most is that my 150 only burns 5.5 gallons per hour and I left with topped tanks and flew for only 1.8 gallons. I suspect they are gouging me on that end as well. If you can avoid this airport, and this FBO, you'll be doing yourself a favor. From now on, unless I have an emergency, I'll fuel up at GON or WST. This place is a tourist trap!

I called about an hour before arriving and asked about the crew car. They told me that it would be available and to come on in. Once I got there and purchased fuel they charged me $7 even with a student pilot and fuel purchase. The owner of the FBO also took out the courtesy car and would not be back for hours. I feel as if they lie to their customers and just don't care about the people they are supposed to be in business of serving.

Apparently they have a European habit of billing $7 PER TOUCH and GO and sending the bill in the mail. I've never heard of such a practice taking place inside of the U.S. Full stops and dropping someone and parking I can understand. Be wary.

I flew into HTO last Thursday in a Cessna 182 and parked at Sound Aircraft for 4 days. On the day of my return trip home, I called 45 minutes before arriving at Sound to ask if they could fill my plane to the lower tabs, as I would be well over takeoff weight with full fuel. Upon arriving, I was told that my plane had not yet been fueled. I once again reiterated that I wanted the plane filled only to the tabs. Afterward, I walked out to the plane to start the preflight. The line guy was on top of the wing about to start fueling the plane and I told him that I only wanted it filled to the lower tabs. Later, to my disbelief, I found that the plane had been topped off. My passengers and I then had to wait 2 hours as the excess fuel was drained out of the plane through the sump drains. For my inconvenience, Sound reimbursed the $80 in ramp fees as well as the extra fuel they had to take out of the aircraft; however, I was told I would be reimbursed for the total amount of fuel initially.

Nice new FBO with friendly staff. $7 landing fee to the town is OK, but Sound charges a $20 daily ramp fee that is based on CALENDAR day, not 24 hour period. I arrived at 5pm and left the next day by 4pm but had to pay $40 for "two" days. It's a bad policy. Next time I'll try Montauk.

Flew in today with my daughter. Great service from both the FBO (Sound) and the airport management. Rental was ready, directions to nearby attractions given. Good friendly people.

I flew in there last summer, landing at about 7pm. Departed the next day at 1pm. in a Cirrus. They charged me $47 for the privilege. $7 landing fee plus TWO days even though I was there less than 24 hours. They said: "You landed last night and you're leaving today - that's two nights?" Shameless.

We have been flying in for several weekends in a row and find that all the staff at Sound is hard working and nice. They have gone out of their way to make sure each arrival and departure is efficient and friendly.

This was my first time flying my personal aircraft to East Hampton Airport. I work at one of the busiest FBO in the country as a career, so it is a nice change to find a place that still offers personal service. We arrived after the FBO officially closed, but were still treated like we were prime-time G-5 pilots. The manager even gave us a ride into town to save us money on a cab. After dinner, we headed back to the airport to depart and that same manager was on site for a late arriving helicopter. Even though it was around 10:30, misty and cold, he fired up the fuel truck and topped off my plane. Now that is service if you ask me! This FBO is a must for anyone visiting the Hampton's by air!
