Nice employees & fast and friendly service. The airport is also a great stop for heading to the Northwood’s. Make sure and stop at nearby Famous Dave's for great bbq. Downtown Hayward is also a good stop and lots of activity. Fishing is a must up here, caught a huge Walleye this year.

3rd visit up to Hayward - stayed on the Chippewa Flowage Lake and had a great time at Pat's Landing. Right on the lake with a pool in front along with a bar/restaurant right on the lake. What a great spot. Airport offers rental cars and fair priced fuel at $5.49...Line staff is friendly. Good spot to fly in to for the scenic beauty and stop for lunch or stay the week on the many lakes in this region. We're still trying to catch Muskie...No luck this year, but did catch some bass and Northerns!

The folks at L&L are great. I've been a HYR regular for almost ten years. It's an incredible destination whether you are doing a $100 Hamburger trip (breakfast at Coopers is great) or transiting through on a long cross-country. The original Famous Daves is only 15 minutes away on Round Lake and of course, there's the famous Chippewa Flowage with several other lakes and rivers in the area. Great fishing, sightseeing and wildlife everywhere.

This is a great airport. Also, it's neat to see large-cabin private jets in the middle of the woods!

2nd visit up here...Nice long runway and pleasant staff. We go Muskie fishing up here and stay at the Boulder Lodge (Orvis approved)...A fishing tradition since 1905. If you go Walleye fishing and don't catch any...Head over to the Lakewood’s Resort - they have fresh Walleye, which you can eat indoors or out with outstanding views of the lake. Look for Elk, Moose, black bears, fox, lynx, beavers, deer, porcupine, possum, etc. In this wilderness area....

If you like to going fishing for Muskies - this is the spot for this trophy fish. This area has the world record and many lakes to fish for Muskie, Walleye, Bass, etc. We flew up here prior to Oshkosh and had a great time...Airport has a long runway - 5000 feet, so it's easy to land/takeoff at full gross! Check out Ghost Lake Lodge and have meal at Boulder Lodge..Awesome heritage from 1905!! About 20 minutes east of the airport. Rental cars are available at the airport.
