From Will Simmons on 21-Jan-2007: I just wanted to say kudos to Matt, an employee at the airport. He really went out of his way for us today to help get our plane ready. He even lent me his vehicle so I could get supplies in town (no crew car available). This is a great little airport in a great town. Too bad the university does not see its value as an airport and wants to raze it and build dorms. It will be such a loss to the community and those who use it.
From Eric Chilton on 04-Nov-2006: No waiver of the $10 tie down fee for fuel purchase. Bring your own tie downs and be prepared to park out in the grass. Overall, a nice field and very easy access to UNC or Duke. Got a nice fly over of both schools and the campus. Very scenic area. Runway is difficult to see when approaching from the North due to many trees, but traffic was light and overall was not a problem.
From Chad Forster on 16-Jul-2006: Had good experiences with the folks working at KIGX. Were friendly and helpful on both my stops. Required a quick turn and the gentleman working had me in and out in no time. Departure and arrival to and from the west is fun, have 2 nice walls of trees on both sides! Will consider KIGX again in the future, even though I'm partial to the Blue Devils ;-)
From Gaines C. Martin on 29-May-2006: Nice runway. Close to campus. Facilities, rental car services, and aircraft tie downs below average for an airport so close to a major university. I would consider KRDU in the future for convenience sake.
From Lin Caywood on 07-Apr-2006: Refueled on the way back from HXD to FDK. Trees and wind can be a challenge when landing there. Make sure you radio ahead for a cab to avoid a long wait. Great price on fuel. FBO was most helpful with pumping gas and pushing back into a parking spot-- chocks were provided. Just make sure you don't dawdle on the takeoff climb to avoid the trees.
