I fly in and out of this airport quite often, since my son works for UNC and lives only 10 min from the airport. The parking fee is on par with other airports. You just have to remember that UNC owns the airport and plans on closing it down.

Have had mixed experiences. Day trips have been fine with levels of support expected at a small field. Overnight stays have been a problem. Ten dollar/day parking might be ok for a night, but they wanted to charge $10/night for a month when I needed to leave the plane there and refused to even talk about longer term pricing. "That's the fee, take it or leave it." So for longer term trips it is about 1/3 the price to leave the plane at RDU. Typical thinking that one would expect from overpaid government employees in a state school town, really a shame. Also, no fees waived with fuel purchase.

WATCH OUT! I was hit with tie down fees to park between two old rotten tires on the grass. There are not signs posed anywhere outside and I did not have reason to enter the terminal. The smug old man said I was getting a "deal" on the parking what a joke. This is a run down old airport with two people collecting a government check sitting in the office and ripping you off. It is very close to UNC and town however watch out they will try to get every penny out of you!

The college kid was working when I got here. He will not be proactive in helping you to find a tiedown spot. You need to request assistance on the Unicom frequency and then he will give you progressive taxi instructions. Old facility but clean.

Very mixed feedback...When we landed, the little college kid that was there was useless. It was raining, etc, and he just stayed inside and watched us try to get the airplane situated, etc...But then when we went to leave, the nice older gentleman (don't know his name) was VERY helpful, very nice, and extremely accommodating. So if the college kid is there, good luck, if the older guy is there, you should be in good hands! :)

Great service from Paul and Brian! Wonderful, well-placed field for the Chapel Hill area; close to the UNC campus and attractions in the vicinity. Thank you for a trouble-free one week stay at KIGX.

Great little airport. Stopped in for a couple of hours. No landing or tie down fee. Lineman directed me via the radio to parking. (It was 20 deg F)...I woulda used the radio too:-) Very conveniently located to UNC and surrounding area. FBO building is in need of repair and is showing it's age but it was clean and warm...Good enough!

I had good service at IGX. I bought 20+ gallons of fuel and did have to pay for two nights tie down (2x$10). Convenient to Chapel Hill and surrounding towns.
