Great airport and great people.... Make sure you stop in if you're in the area and need gas or just great service. Frank and the rest of the crew will treat you right. Lots of room and everything you need just outside the busy Chicago area.

Nice place, friendly folks. There is a computer for weather and several vending machines. Fast service from the fuel truck. Nice hometown feel. I'll be back.

Stopped in on July 24 enroute to Airventure, weather kept us from getting further north. We wound up with 12 pilots needing rooms for the night at the local Hilton Garden Inn, we were able to use the courtesy cars to shuttle back and forth for the evening and the next morning. Great service with friendly people. Stopped for gas again on the way home on July 31, same great service, and got to see the Collings Foundation B-17, B24 and P-51 to boot.

We stopped in for fuel in a Piper Arrow yesterday. They were repaving the ramp in front on of the main hangar and FBO. We were greeted by a lineman and were topped off quickly and efficiently. Forget calling the weather briefer, there is a weather briefing station across the street that accepts walk-ins. Highly recommended!

Stopped by with a friend in our Aeronca Chiefs on the way home from Oshkosh. In spite of buying barely enough fuel to make it worthwhile for Frank to drive the fuel truck out to us, he welcomed us, and treated very well, and even gave a few laughs. Great place to stop...Will visit again next we are passing through.

Frank at the airport was very helpful with a courtesy car, directions and motel recommendations. Weather service station on the field is great for a briefing. A great airport to stop at.

Out of Boulder Co we landed at IKK for the fuel and stayed for the night as the Phil area was being hit by a noreaster and I didn't want to deal with the low IFR. Frank provided us a staff car, filled us with very reasonably priced fuel and fresh coffee. Doesn't sound like much but then you haven't met Frank. What a fantastic experience! If you are ever in the area its worth the stop just to meet a person who enjoys providing you with service and great conversation. What a cheerful and friendly fellow. KIKK is now on my list of great places to stop.

One of my favorite overnight stops on long trips. They'll happily loan you a car overnight, and there are several reasonably priced hotel a few miles away, plus many choices for places to eat. It's a low traffic airport with excellent facilities including ILS, far enough from Chicago that you can get in and out without a hassle. Throw in good fuel prices and an extremely friendly and helpful staff, and IKK can't be beat.

I flew in today with a friend to complete a cross-country. I'm time building for my commercial. Decided to fly in to catch the last of the Chicago Bears training camp nearby. Unfortunately we missed it. The personnel at Kankakee were extremely nice, and were more than happy to give us a car. As far as the comment where the pilot made comments about the vehicles... Could they be newer, sure. But, the keys were given without hesitation, and I'm not one to complain about a free car. Keep it up Kankakee; you gained a true fan today!

This is a good place to stop in IL. They have a nice place to eat lunch--including a picnic bench outside. They gave us quick refueling so that we could avoid some weather heading in our direction.

Flew in to Kankakee January 31, 2008, we were courteous and asked to borrow the courtesy car, told him we were running up to the North side of town and be back in just a bit. His reply was "the cars are only used to go get something to eat." Also instead of giving us the much nicer Taurus, he gave us the keys to the 1986 Plymouth. Not looking a gift horse in the mouth but noticed the list that I signed for the car, everyone above me had got to use the Taurus. Well, I guess when your 23 and only fly a Piper Seneca in what should I expect.
Response from Jason Licon, Airport Manager, KVAA We do what we can for everyone. I am sad to see that a fellow pilot would complain about getting free transportation after flying into our airport and not supporting us with even courtesy fuel. Also our vehicles are all relatively similar in age and wear. The Taurus does seem nicer, however the Plymouth does run better (and has better heat).

A late departure and en route weather led us to stop here returning east from OSH. Great service and loaned us a courtesy car for transport to the hotel for overnight. FSS across the road so was able to get a face to face brief before departure. Friendly place - great service

We spent the night here, both heading east and again heading back home to the west. Great airport, reasonable fuel prices and friendly service. Three courtesy cars, so one is always available for use to drive to your hotel or take into town, the only stipulation is that it must be returned by 10:00 am the following day. Of the 5 airports we flew into flying from Ca. to R.I. this was our favorite stop.

I came in for an overnight. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I forgot my backpack on the way out. When I called a week later, they had it there and shipped it that same day. It arrived the next day! Thank you so much!!!
