I was in LCQ for an Angel Flight pickup, and the rain was pouring. The folks there were super. They did everything they could to help, including building a "bridge" across the standing water. Great people, great fuel prices. Definitely worth visiting.

Brand new facility with after-hours access, great line service, competitive fuel prices and there is a nice little restaurant just across the street (if the crew car is not available to go elsewhere). I will definitely visit again!

After spending the night in Lake City and departing to points South, my Hawk XP experienced major electrical anomalies. I quickly returned to LCQ, where the staff offered me several alternatives. I took up the suggestion to get a local A&P, Craig, who efficiently diagnosed and repaired the problem. Always a favorite airport, with lots of potential. New terminal ready Oct 1.

I always have a great visit at KLCQ, the fuel prices are always some of the very lowest in the state, and the new facility, which will be open in September ‘11, will offer every amenity that a pilot or passengers could need. Crew car for lunch and rental cars are conveniently brought to airport before arrival. Bob, Ed, and Nick are true professionals.

I had to divert to LCQ on a trip from Tallahassee due to weather. When I taxied to the ramp I saw a man sprinting from the FBO. I couldn't believe that he was running so quickly to park me and chock my wheels. Ed at the FBO was amazing, he called Hertz for a rental car, and he said it was going to take about 30 minutes for the car to get there. So he gave us the keys to the crew car and directed us where to eat. When I returned the following day, I got the same type of treatment from Ron, who topped off my tanks and gave me a ride to the hangar (that Ed let me use for the night.) Lake City should be the model for G.A. Airports around the country. Thank you Ed and Ron for your superior treatment of my family and me.

Stopped at LCQ for fuel but decided to spend the night due to FL thunderstorms blocking our way. Tom and his staff got us a room at a local hotel, gave us use of a crew car for the night, and made recommendations or local restaurants... They couldn't have been more accommodating...And the fuel prices are the best in the area. See you on the return trip... Thanks

A vacuum pump failure occurred in flight just prior to landing. The linesman immediately called the local mechanic (Herb Ledford) who was able to purchase a new pump from his local supplier and install it that afternoon. Herb's prompt service saved me from being stranded and I am most grateful. The FBO staff is superb and has my highest recommendation. For transients: be aware that the tower controller has funky hours that do not necessarily correspond with those published.

Ed Bunnell and Ron Wilson tag-teamed to ensure I got an Enterprise car rental confirmed and on site. Then I had to arrive after-hours. No problem...Ron worked out a way to give me access to my ride (behind security) and left a very helpful note. These kinds of things may seem small but to a pilot, tremendous help. Thanks to Ron, Ed and the whole team at Lake City Gateway.

Stopped for fuel and refreshment enroute to SRQ. Had fuel at discount ($4.25) and hot dogs for the Sun n Fun travelers. Lineman Ed was very helpful and assisted in working out a COM glitch. New terminal under construction. Tower controller was helpful as well when my IFR clearance turned up missing. Good folks!

Made a fuel stop here in February because of the great fuel price. When we got back in the plane to leave it wouldn't start. Herb the mechanic saw that we were having problems and came out and made several suggestions to try and address the problem. Finally decided we needed to remove the cowl so he could take a look. Turned out we had a dead mag. There was actually an aircraft parts business in town and so Herb drove me over to pick up a new mag. He stayed late and replaced the mag. In the mean time Ed set us up with a courtesy car so that we could get dinner while Herb worked on the plane. Great, friendly, service oriented FBO.

The gentlemen at the FBO parked us right up front, and had us fueled in no time. It was such a nice relief to get some inexpensive fuel! They gave us a crew car that we desperately needed to grab some food. Thanks guys. If we are in the area again, we will definitely be stopping here again.

Had a spark plug blow out while on our first flight out of maintenance while flying near LCQ today. Made an "emergency" landing late on a Friday afternoon not knowing what to expect. What my wife and I found was Bob and Ed waiting for us at the ramp with the local AP, Herb. It was like a NASCAR pit crew. They diagnosed and repaired the primary problem, checked all the other spark plug and ignition connections and had us on our way in less than an hour! In addition, they have the cheapest fuel around!!! Extremely helpful, nice and inexpensive fuel; my wife and I highly recommend a stop.

Best place to stop and visit nearby friends. Great staff of knowledgeable linemen! They know how to handle airplanes and customers. Looking forward to the new ramp and terminal. One thing missing that EVERY FBO I've ever stopped at in my 4000+ hours: a tow bar and a tug to maneuver a/c. My 206 was too heavy to move by hand. Your staff is very careful and they could use these basic items to do a complete job from ramp-to-hangar, etc. See you in a few weeks!

Stopped here again for fuel on my annual trip north. Excellent service and very good price for 100LL. FBO manager remembered me and made me feel welcome back. Note that the tower does not operate every day. Check AWOS for status. This field can get busy with a mix of traffic- when I landed there was a Falcon Jet in the pattern, a light twin practicing the ILS and my old C150. Not a problem with everyone playing nice.

The staff was very helpful. We made arrangements with the brand new Comfort Suites who gave us an "airport" rate at a wonderful hotel. Janie, one of the hotel managers, came and picked us up that night and even took us to get some food on the way to the hotel. The next time we needed a ride the nice man at the FBO gave us a ride. What a great place to stop with a great fuel price as well.

I have flown State of Florida aircraft from LCQ for nearly 25 years. I have never experienced anything but courteous, professional, and prompt service. The current crew is one of the best. I encourage any of you to stop by and meet Tom, Bob, Ed, and Ron. Also, Bo may give you a hard time from the tower, but he's deserved the right to do so. He's been there for generations and is only concerned with your safe arrival and departure. Also, while there, stop by and meet the pilots who fly law enforcement missions for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. Fly safe, and welcome to Lake City.

Landed @ LCQ on New Years Eve. Ron, Bob and Ed very all very helpful. Topped off with Jet A. Borrowed (clean) crew car and went to a "local" restaurant 1-1/1 miles down the road. Halfway to PDK discovered I had left my glasses in Flt. Briefing room. Called on New Years day, they were FedEx'ed the next Monday, packed carefully. 'THANKS GUYS"

Hi! Just wanted to let someone know how wonderful the people are at the Lake City FBO! I had special dealings primarily with Bob Hoffman who was really great! Just thought I'd take a moment to say "Thank you" to people like Bob -- he gets things done and is nice about it, even if he is from Brooklyn -- Ha! I had instant email response, phone numbers, info, etc.! Thanks for great Customer Service! Good going! Keep 'em flying! Merry Christmas & best wishes for the New Year!

Overnighted in Lake City last night. FBO service is excellent. Bob Hoffman working the line met my plane. Put me in a spot with secure tie-downs and fuel was priced lower than the general area. FBO services are excellent and meet all pilot needs. Bob recommended a local motel. Klaudia Lapham (386) 754-5944, the motel manager picked me up at the FBO and dropped me off the next morning. The Country Inn and Suites was clean, comfortable, and breakfast was included for less than $100 for everything including the ride. While pre-flighting for departure the next morning, the airport manager, Tom Sawyer, walked over to be sure all was good with my layover. It was more than good. Can't recommend KLCQ more highly for a stop in North Florida. It has no serious competition.

We arrived a week ago in a Cessna 172 on the way back from a long hours building XC in the south states. The weather kept us over night and thanks to Ron we could save a lot of money. They let us use the crew car over night and gave us directions to a lot cheaper lodging than most FBOs do (We have a special price for you at the Hilton...) I’m sure they take great care of customers with money to spend as well but if you're looking for a cheap over night stop on a long flight this is perfect, they saved us!

We landed at Lake City due to severe weather in Georgia and had to stay overnight. I found the person on duty named Ron to be very helpful, with a courtesy car and helpful with the motel accommodations. We were picked up by the owner of the Comfort Suites Inn and did not see the need for the courtesy car. The hotel was very gracious with a special rate for pilots and for transportation to and from our restaurant. Thank you for your hospitality.

FBO was closed at our arrival time. Though a slightly "sketchy" guy pulled up in a pickup informing us that the city "turns different at night". Not a nice welcome. Do note that we do NOT know whether this guy was affiliated with the FBO. But if not, it would be nice if strange people wouldn't be able to come onto airport property since the gate was broken. A business weekend in Lake City was made a breeze by Ron & Bob at Lake City Municipal FBO. They had obviously briefed Tower on my ETA, as I was given taxi instructions (without asking) to an open private hangar (only $25/nt) where a marshaller stood in front with raised batons. Next to him were a waiting fuel truck and my rental car. Lowest fuel prices I've seen in months topped off a very favorable first KLCQ stopover, and I will look for reasons to come back!
