Yikes!!! Don't plan a fuel stop here unless you have enough to continue to another nearby field. On 8-7-07 I stopped for fuel because AirNav showed "self serve" available. Fuel price was best in the area, which is why LHB was a planned en route stop. A resident attendant (who may or may not be there... can only turn on the pump Luckily he was), or by calling the police who will come and turn it on (phone numbers are posted on the pump). The card reader is inoperative, and payment must be made directly, IN PERSON, DOWNTOWN at City Hall...DURING BUSINESS HOURS, MONDAY-FRIDAY. At other times, the resident attendant, if available, can take cash or certified check. The attendant (city employee) was very helpful, and drove me to city hall to make payment...They accept ONLY Visa or MasterCard, cash or certified check. Per the city, there will be a new card reader installed after mid September '07.... date still unknown.

Called on July 7th; they do have fuel but no card reader. The guy who normally does fuel in on vacation should be back soon, unclear whether they can do fuel before he returns. They are planning to move the fuel farm and install a card reader in the fall if they get the funding. Might be best to call before you go there for fuel, or have enough to fly someplace else if the fueler isn't available.

I recently had to make an unplanned landing at Hearn; I could not have planned a better place to land. Before I could shutdown the engine the Hearn Economics Development Corp Director was at my plane, asking if I needed any assistance, he got me in contact with another most friendly gentleman, the General Manager of the Robertson County Newspaper. Between these two fine gentlemen I had four A/P's talking to me within a half hour. I was taken into Bryan to pick up a rental car, offered a nights stay and insured I had all the contact information I needed, and more for just in case. My plane was repaired on site by the friendliest A/P's in Texas. Fuel purchase was a non-issue, not sure what all the fuss is about over its problems, other airports have real issues, not my experience in Hearn. I have now placed Hearn on my places of must stop and support. I cannot say in words how nice the people were. As I am starting to look for a retirement area, Hearn is certainly on the list.

Hearne has no fuel, no FBO and usually no one around for help. They did refurbish their lounge with better restroom facilities. Computerized weather covers local weather but there is no flight planning available. Code to the lounge/ restrooms isn't published anywhere so you may not get in if the door is pulled all the way closed. Runway has recently been refurbished. Not much reason to go here unless you have transportation waiting for you. Town is a couple of miles away.
