Thanks Taylor County for your choice in an airport manager. Aug 2, 09, I was traveling from OSH to HWD when a line of t’storms popped up across my route of travel. I was able to turn around, land at your airport and take refuge within the building minutes before the t’storms arrived. Much to my surprise the building was open for such occasions. After a few hours the sheriffs stopped in to inform me that another storm was on the way, which was much stronger than the first. They mentioned that I should call the airport manager, Jim Wood and have him open a hangar for me. At 1:45am I didn't think that would be a great idea until I saw the intensity of the storm on the weather computer. Fifteen minutes later Jim showed up and helped me in placing the plane into the hangar. At most airports this would have never happened! I am very happy Jim took the time and actually care about my situation. I was able to get some sleep that night and was on my way the next morning.

On a day with snowy/icy runway conditions, Jim was really responsive in status reports and in getting the runways clear of a stubborn layer of snow and ice. Long, wide runways and their personal service made me really glad I came here.
