Flew in for cal pilots meeting. I was very impressed by Curtis who works for the county security contractor and not only met us on arrival as it was late at night but then drove us to our hotel. Great service. Mariah hotel is nice and walking distance from airport.

A good stop for having a $100 burger. You can park just in front of the restaurant. Tower controller was very nice and helpful trying to get a VFR clearance into R2515.

Stopped in at MHV for fuel ($5.97 for 100LL) 4/22/11. Wind was 026/26G35. Pulled up to fuel island and topped off. Would have been nice if the line staff could have gotten up and come out to help with the ladder in the wind.

Mohave Airport (Spaceport I guess...) was a fantastic place to get stuck because of unlikely weather. Unicom operator was very helpful and the security guards (Curtis and Bill) are super helpful as well. I got a ride to and from the Desert Inn. There is a computer with Internet access and bathrooms. The terminal has tons of fascinating pictures of the airplanes that have been tested there along with the myriad of unusual planes parked around the airport. Neat place to stop!

Got in late on a Thursday (for the Edwards AFB flyin) and everything was closed. But Dennis & Jared (security) took great care of us both that night and the next morning. Got a ride to the hotel that night and picked back up (didn't know about the place right outside the fence). But a warning - after 8 pm, there's not much in the way of food that's not a bar within walking distance other than Taco Bell or McDonalds. (At least we couldn't find it)

Flew in from IYK on Sept 11, 2010 for the free lunch for the military. Excellent service and food, everyone had to share because everything tasted so good. I called the tower about Notams before the flight and the operator was really nice and let me know what was going on. Very professional and he remembered me when I radio'ed in. Easier parking for airplanes then car's like it should be :-)

Flew in on a Wed as part of an organized tour. FBO was nice and waived the tiedown fee for fuel purchase. I understand that you can get a tour of the Boneyard for $5 per person through the FBO. They run them once a day in the morning. Best to call and ask first. FBO closes at 5pm, but self-serve fuel is available 24/7. Stayed at the Mojave Desert Inn just outside the gates on Hwy 58, which was cheap, clean and comfortable. Call them and they'll pick you up. From there you can walk to Mike's Roadhouse for B, L, D and play pool. A good overnight stop if you want to check out an old Desert town.
