Flew in this morning for breakfast. Taxied to the south ramp. A couple airplanes got stuck in the snow on a major taxiway!! Someone got a shovel from a hangar elf and shoveled a pathway. What's the deal with not plowing a taxiway?? The snow was a week ago!! Airport manager must not care.

Response from Gary Robinson, Airport Manager/Parks Superintendent, Manitowoc County Airport
Peyton Metzel, I am sorry you had a bad experience in Manitowoc, but to insinuate that the manager does not care and that you got stuck on a major taxi way is false, this is from a pilot that gets stuck on the far south parking ramp area that has plenty of room to turn around! Some times equipment breaks down and we do the best that we can to get the snow removed. I can assure you that all our taxiways were clear and open, if there was a problem then you should check your NOTAMS. Where you were near the restaurant is south ramp parking area and there was plenty of room. Pilots are in charge of their actions. No one else had any problems.

This airport is truly a hidden gem! Joe, Gary and the entire staff are extremely helpful and courteous. Being closer to Whistling Straights Golfing, than any other public airport, truly makes this a business professionals hidden secret..They even have a Gogo Inflight Internet Rep. Right down the road! WOW.. Charter and private jet owners take note. Looking for a quite and professional airport in Wisconsin during golf season...You have to look at this place!

It was just one of those unexpected tips when my date and I decided to dropped into KMTW. After landing, Rich Conrad greeted us on the ramp without asking for anything I.E. Fuel etc.. It was great feeling not being pressured into checking my tanks and immediately opening the wallet up before we got a chance to stretch. KMTW airfield is a small gem located along the East Shoreline in Wisconsin. Rich offered us a courtesy car to run into town for a quick dinner before returning home while enjoying another amazing Wisconsin sunset. When we returned from dinner, Rich was the most courteous I've ever seen in my last 17 years in aviation as a pilot. The courtesy of KMTW, Rich, and the folks at Revolutions (best burger I promise you) landed me a second date. Thank you kindly and looking forward to my next visit at KMTW...
