I appreciate the office staff helping me locate a hotel in Morrisville (The Plaza Hotel @ $89 with Hillary's Restaurant next door) and info about riding the local bus service to and fro ($1 per) - Thanks.

Flew in with my wife last week, FBO staff was friendly and courteous, and helped us locate a rental car. I requested my plane be hangared overnight because of the extreme cold. I called the next morning on the way back to the airport to have it pulled out and fueled, but no one answered the phone. I placed numerous calls over the next couple of hours and again, all with no answer. I arrived at the airport and couldn't find anybody, on top of that my plane was never hangared and sat outside all night. Still unable to find anyone, I had to hop over to Burlington to get fuel.

My wife and I flew into Morrisville for a business conference last week. When we getting ready to leave this past Monday, I found out that my Master Control Unit (electronic brains) was malfunctioning. I had to made numerous calls using Whitcomb's phone since my cell phone did not have coverage. Dave and his crew were excellent in trying to help us out. Once I got the part ordered from the Cirrus factory, then Dave helped locate Jim Beams, a local A&P. Jim and his assistant Don were able to come out the next day and install the new unit. My wife and I were extremely impressed at how helpful everyone was. By the time we left, it felt like we were leaving family.

This FBO could be really cool, but unfortunately it is a bit of a dump. Tons of glider traffic and they fly some "unique" pattern entries too, so extra care there too. Great place to visit -- highly recommend a visit.

Response from David Whitcomb, President of Whitcomb Aviation
Once again, I will say that there is nothing unique about the glider patterns, except that they are a little tighter. In fact the gliders all do full patterns, unlike many transients. You would not believe what I see some of the transients doing here. It makes me wonder where they got their training. You wouldn't get away with that at any busy airport. The gliders all have radios as well. Just remember, if it wasn't for the revenue the glider ops generate, you wouldn't have an airport here to land at. As far as this being a dump, that's a real nice comment to make coming from someone that doesn't come here very often and apparently you don't fly to many airports. Your inexperience shows. Next time someone has a question about the glider ops, maybe they could have the guts to actually talk to the management instead of making comments on a website, about things you know nothing about.
