Based on the reviews of the two FBOs at MYF, I chose Gibbs. Service was excellent. Line guy met the aircraft. Cheap overnight fee. Made for a great weekend trip. Only drawback was that the FBO office itself closes at like 6pm local.

We visited Gibbs the weekend of 5/2/08 through 5/4/08. Our arrival was smooth -- our car was ready and waiting. Departure, however, was chaotic. Gibbs was clearly understaffed. I ordered 10 gallons fuel in one of my tanks, yet they pumped 14.1 gallons into that tank. It also took ~20 minutes for them to find any of the fuel receipts for my orders. They also could not tell me where they had towed the airplane to, so I had to walk around on the (large) ramp looking for it. Overall, I was not satisfied and will consider other FBOs in the future.

Gibbs had our rental car waiting and their service was certainly adequate if not stellar. The line staff work after the office closes. The facilities need a remodel to bring them up to the standard of other FBOs in the vicinity.

We have been here a dozen times in the past three years in our King Air, and from the CSR staff and the line crew, we have always enjoyed our visit. Antiquated, but adequate facilities, but can't understand why they don't have wireless for us corporate visitors. One old computer is available, but always seem to have a student from the flight school on it. For the money we alone have spent there, they could have put it in a hundred times.

This was the second time we visited Gibbs. Service was excellent. Nella was extremely helpful when we had a problem with the rental car. She got us a replacement immediately. We'll be back

My wife and I visited Gibbs between Friday 10/5 and Sunday 10/7. We experienced very good service. On arrival, our rental car was brought out to the airplane and the paperwork was minimal. Our fuel requests were taken care of promptly and correctly. Departure was also smooth, and we were not charged overnight fees. We'll use Gibbs again.

Fourth stop on cross country trip (LNS, RAP, FLG, MYF, TUS, SAT, OLV, LNS). Met by more lineman than all the other stops combined. Allowed taxi to plane to load and unload. Good experience.

Flew into Gibbs Friday night (late) in our Conquest; line service met us and had our rental car ready. They had arranged for our stay at Four Points (great discount) returned on Sunday - plane was fueled (200gals w/prist... $3.80/gal all incl.) great facility!

Flew in to MYF again this week and called Gibbs maintenance shop that morning to see if they could do some work that same afternoon. Got the same courteousness and great service from the Gibbs shop that I've learned to expect from the rest of the operation. Work was done well, quickly and the price very reasonable. Shop is highly recommended.

My first time into the San Diego area. Very nice and friendly people. Their ramp was full but they found me a spot. Always people asking if they could help out in any way. I'd definitely recommend them. Fuel prices are very fair. Family owned and it shows. The general manager even gave us a lift to our plane. I'll be back.

Arrived after hours, but lineman nonetheless had our rental car waiting and helped us with directions to our hotel. When we returned several days later, the airplane had already been fueled. Consistently good service and terrific attitude!

Went to MYF for a meeting in San Diego. I phoned a few days ahead and they reserved a car for us and had it on the line waiting. The lineman was there when we arrived and helped load the car. The office is nice, with good flight planning facilities, and the staff was courteous and very helpful. Special thanks to John and Adam. Highly recommended!

Flew in after a short flight from Corona airport on 4/1/07 taxied over to Gibbs after reading the great reviews and fellow pilots positive comments. There was no one on the ramp to guide us in but no big deal. I wasn’t going to buy fuel because I was already near max weight when I departed Corona for the short 45 min flight. Linemen were awesome they did us the favor of dropping my 2 pass and me. At the Marina for a reasonable tip. We had a great afternoon at the Marina! They then picked us up after 3-4 hours.. TOP SERVICE will return and if needed buy fuel or any other service I may need from these guys.. Thanks to Lineman JOHN and ADAM!!

Gibbs is great! We flew down from Oregon to San Diego and parked our old Skywagon at Gibbs for a week. We called in a few hours before we got there and were able to reserve a rental car, which was promptly brought out to our plane after shutting down. Nice! We arrived right before closing time, but the staff didn't rush us at all and were very helpful. Flying VFR into MYF was no problem with SoCal approach clearing us straight in through the class B. We'll definitely be back! Great service!

Landed at Montgomery Field on 1/3/07 for the very first time. We picked Gibbs because of the great reviews it received on this website. We were NOT disappointed. John Michael had our rental car and directions to the Zoo ready when we arrived. They are helpful and friendly.

Flew into Montgomery on Labor Day... Monday, 4 September 2006 on business. Had reserved Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Shortly after the prop stopped spinning and before I had a chance to 'climb out'... My rent-a-car was pulled up next to my plane; lineman assisted me in tying down my Experimental RV-7A and with unloading my luggage! Best service I have ever had! PERIOD! Girl at the front desk had my rental contract ready, was friendly, and in less than 15 minutes time from taxi in to drive away. I was done! Gibbs is THE place to go. IMHO. Thanks to all the great service GIBBS!!!! As our Governor would say... "I'll be BAAAACK".

Flew to MYF to visit Point Loma Naz University for a little bit, and got excellent service and a free crew van. No help when we taxied in but that’s cool because there was no ramp fee, even if we didn’t buy fuel! Great job Gibbs.... For sure ill be back!!

I've been at truly excellent FBO's, but Gibbs is the absolute, hands-down, best! Not a Taj Mahal. No marble walls, nor valet gourmet coffee. It has something far better -- people who bend over backwards to give customer service in the finest tradition of the word. (Story's a bit gross). Youngest had an accident in the plane and he and my oldest went to the restroom and created a huge mess. The folks there just kept telling me it was no problem. The manager and owner of the FBO volunteered three times to drive me in his pickup to the nearby Wal Mart to get my son a new change of clothes. The third time I agreed and I'm glad I did. They gave us cotton towels to help my son wash up, cleaned the bathroom, and the owner even purchased my boys two large Sprites and a big container of Pringles! The owner gave me his card with his personal phone number on it and said if I ever needed anything in San Diego to give him a call. If I asked him for the key to the city, he would have called the mayor!

The Gibbs folks go the extra mile to take care of you. While their fuel can be slightly more than around the corner, they more than make up for it in quality service. I arrived just after the airport and FBO was closed, but both the tower and line guy stuck around to help me out.

Flew into MYF on Monday, March 27 with my family for Spring Break, after a long trip from the Portland area. After contacting Gibbs on the Unicom, the rental car was delivered to the plane within a minute of when I shut down. A few minutes later, Buzz Gibbs personally came out and offered a covered parking space for the plane, free of any additional charge, and then helped me push the plane in. When we left the following Saturday, fuel service was very prompt. Staff was friendly and helpful. A first-class experience. I recommend Gibbs if you are going to the San Diego area.

Flew into KMYF last month. Reserved car the day before; it was waiting. Taxi along blue line to transient row; they warned me they might move the plane overnight. They did. To the spot right by the door. They could use one more phone to call flight service, and maybe that one could be in the same place as the WSI computer. The present one is by the door.

My friend & I from the Yuma Flying Club in Yuma, AZ landed on Tuesday 1-10-06, were promptly met & parked by your line crew & took care of fueling our Beech Musketeer. We took off after dark & blew a prop seal over the field. Tower cleared us for an immediate "miracle landing" with no forward visibility as the windscreen was covered with oil. Charley from your line crew, the only one left after hours, was kind enough to drive us to Lindbergh to rent a car to return to Yuma, AZ. This kind of service is far above that required by any FBO & certainly speaks volumes about the attitude of excellence at Gibbs Flying Service. You have certainly earned all the business from the Yuma Flying Club Members when in San Diego. Today the GM of Gibbs, Henry Sickles was gracious enough to take photos of the a/c & email to us to show to the other club members. Thanks again for your extreme professionalism & helpfulness!

The service was lacking a bit when I pulled in. You had to follow a blue line and basically I taxied around and took a best guess as to where to park. THe blue line just petered out and there was no one there to flag the spot. I pushed the plane in myself and unloaded the bags with no one around and hauled them into the office, although once I got there one of the line guys kindly gave me a ride down town in lieu of a taxi. The office opens late (8am on Sundays so keep that in mind if you neeed to leave early); the nice weather in December offsets some of the perceived shortcomings.
