I never really flew into OKV much because it's just far enough from my base to be a long drive but just near enough to not be an adventurous flight. My wife and one year old daughter diverted here with thunderstorms blocking our path to the east at 9pm on a Sunday evening, expecting to sit in the plane until the NEXRAD stopped painting reds along our path, but instead were welcomed by Steve on the UNICOM from 10 miles out, offering us fuel, and happily greeting us and telling us to make ourselves at home as long as we needed to (nice pilot lounge for, and open area for my daughter to run around in as well), and offered a crew car and hotel reservation if we needed it. Apparently, they are staffed most nights in case the medevac helicopters need support. Was a true lifesaver after a long, stressful flight. Fuel is cheaper than surrounding fields, particularly at the self-serve pump a hundred yards away. Will definitely return to OKV as both an alternate and a fuel stop.

I recently stopped here for fuel. When I had some problems getting started they found a mechanic for me. They have always been friendly. This is a good stop just outside of the DC airspace. The fuel prices are reasonable.

Had a business trip to Charlestown/Shepherdstown area in Easter WVa/NW Virginia. Contacted OKV in advance by telephone and was greeted by a warm friendly airport manager who said she wanted my business. I arrived and was parked by a friendly line guy who had driven the rental car (great price from Hertz) out to meet me. The service and friendliness of this airport was fantastic. The fuel price was the cheapest in the region. This will always be my stop when I need to come to this area again.

Diverted here due to TS. Arrived right at 7:00 PM, airport closes then but lineman stays all night. We waited an hour, then took car to get dinner, came back, waited another hour, WX still was bad, gave up and booked a hotel. They let us use the car overnight. You really cannot ever expect better service than this.

Great airport. Friendly folks in the 6 or so times that I have stopped in the last year. On the latest stop, I called the FBO 15 mins out and ordered fuel. Very quick and efficient. I strongly recommend this stop as an alternative to MRB.

Easy in and out. The self-serve fuel is at the west end of the ramp and easy to get to. No problems at all. Nice clean facilities.

Recently did a Pilot and Paws animal rescue flight into OKV.), 7-19-2009. Winchester aviation was very helpful letting us bring the dogs to the other handlers.

Could not have had a better experience with Winchester Aviation. The lineman was a parking before I taxied-in, and was very friendly and helpful. Desk personnel were the same. I highly recommend!
